Where Obama's potential successors stand on climate change
The Guardian & Observer ^ | November 12, 2014 | Tom McCarthy

Who in the US decides what gets done – or not – on climate change policy? The influence of industry, the balance of power in Congress and the popular will all play a role. But the climate deal between China and the United States announced on Tuesday seems to underscore the importance of committed leadership as well. “We have to act with more urgency” on climate change, President Barack Obama said in his state of the union address this year. Now he has concrete results to show.

The question presents itself of how Obama’s successor might build on his legacy on the climate – or break it down. It turns out the potential 2016 presidential candidates fall along a spectrum on the issue, from flat denialism to a sense of urgency that rivals the current president’s. Here’s a roundup of where they stand:

It’s a liberal conspiracy

Rick Santorum, former senator from Pennsylvania

Here’s Santorum running for president last time:

To me this is an opportunity for the left to create – it’s really a beautifully concocted scheme because they know that the earth is gonna cool and warm. It’s been on a warming trend so they said, ‘Oh, let’s take advantage of that and say that we need the government to come in and regulate your life some more because it’s getting warmer.’

---snip---

Ted Cruz, senator from Texas

Here’s Cruz in a February 2014 interview with CNN:

The last 15 years, there has been no recorded warming. Contrary to all the theories that – that they are expounding, there should have been warming over the last 15 years. It hasn’t happened.

Other parts are going up. It is not – you know, you always have to be worried about something that is considered a so-called scientific theory....

I guess Tom doesn't realize that no treaty came out of Red China and that that agreement is non-binding, so that Mr. Obama's successor can do as he or she pleases.

What needs to happen is to end ALL spending on climate change and put it towards the national debt, towards defense build up, or given back to the people who earned it in the first place.

2013 was one of the warmest years on record

2013 was one of the coolest years on record

Google it. You will find irrefutable 'scientific' evidence of both. Belief in this nonsense indicates a serious mental illness.

If you don’t want the climate to change then live in an underground bunker and stay there.

The US Patent will not, under any circumstances, consider a patent for perpetual motion devices. Won’t even look at it; applications are dismissed and destroyed. Arguments cannot be made because it is impossible, against the laws of physics. This is how we should start viewing this global warming crap. Dismiss it immediately, don’t engage and move on to something else. Debates, hearings, discussions, whatever. Just ignore and move on.

“We have to act with more urgency” on climate change, President Barack Obama said in his state of the union address this year. Now he has concrete results to show.

President Obama is correct that we have to act with more urgency. However the urgency is to settle the science because it is FAR from settled. But you cannot have the fox guarding the chicken house. The USA must put together a science panel with NO vested interest in man made global warming. The numbers of such scientists are legion.

Just because we have those at the trough filled by billions of dollars per year to "prove" that global warming is being caused by mankind, does not mean that is correct. Do we even have global warming or are we on the cusp of global cooling?

“Belief in this nonsense indicates a serious mental illness. “

People have a serious need to believe in something larger than themselves. When you rip God out of their lives they have lot of free-floating belief. It attaches itself to anything handy. Thus people believe Elvis is still alive, the UN is good and global warming.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Absolutely right. It’s a tad worse than that, however. Religion requires faith and faith is belief without proof. These assclowns have reems of proof to show the exact opposite of what they profess. Utter and complete psychosis is all I can figure.

"Thus people believe Elvis is still alive.."

He would be rolling over in his grave (if he were dead) to hear you say that! ;)

Even Lib websites are now deriding it as “an IOU to be paid by future Presidents and Congresses”. Meaning NEVER.
