The coming climate onslaught -- President Obama readies a sweeping list of executive actions
Politico ^ | November 11, 2014 | Andrew Restuccia and Erica Martinson

The Obama administration is set to roll out a series of climate and pollution measures that rivals any president’s environmental actions of the past quarter-century — a reality check for Republicans who think last week’s election gave them a mandate to end what they call the White House’s “War on Coal.”

[Snip]

The coming rollout includes a Dec. 1 proposal by EPA to tighten limits on smog-causing ozone, which business groups say could be the costliest federal regulation of all time; a final rule Dec. 19 for clamping down on disposal of power plants’ toxic coal ash; the Jan. 1 start date for a long-debated rule prohibiting states from polluting the air of their downwind neighbors; and a Jan. 8 deadline for issuing a final rule restricting greenhouse gas emissions from future power plants.

If you Freepers look outside, you can see that the Bozo's executive orders have already had a major impact on global warming ... before they were even issued!

What? Obama heard that nonvoting two-thirds say they were really concerned about global warming. Didn’t you?

Senate and House Republican leaders counter threaten with:

100% defunding of the entire EPA FY15 and forever, contract out all EPA tasks and eliminate all ability for regulations, only enforcement of laws exactly as they are passed by congress. That means executive orders have zero power over the environmental LAWS being executed by contractors, not govt. employees that ARE under executive command.

"...eliminate all ability for regulations, only enforcement of laws exactly as they are passed by congress..."

That's the way it should be. Congress has abdicated their responsibilities for a long while.

You cannot make Law with executive actions, you can clarify existing laws.

The EPA was concieved to protect the environment (by Nixon) and for a while it did in a usual gov’t sort of way, but it morphed into an idealogical monster. It’s primary mission now is pure destruction of capitalism. It needs to be completely dismantled and to never be reconstituted using any of the same people.

OMG..!

The EPA's 2014 budget was almost more than the 2013 GNP of ***INDIA***..!!!!

AND the EPA's apparent job is not to make ANYTHING, but rather to stop others from making stuff.

Why not simply NOT make stuff for FREE instead of PAYING to arrange for that..?

At the very minimum, the power of the EPA needs to be devolved to the individual state level. The current people in the EPA would then need to be investigated as to activist ties with outside agendas. Go McCarthy on them! Joe was right!

“toxic coal ash”?

Ash from powerplants is a welcome addition to the mix that concrete blocks are made from, as they add strength and volume for low cost.

An executive action would be welcome in this dispute..

Dockworkers shut down SSA terminal in Oakland
The tinderbox that is West Coast ports caught fire again today when members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union shut down the SSA Marine terminal at the Port of Oakland.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_order

“United States Presidents issue executive orders to help officers and agencies of the executive branch manage the operations within the federal government itself. Executive orders have the full force of law[1] when they take authority from a power granted directly to the Executive by the Constitution, or are made in pursuance of certain Acts of Congress that explicitly delegate to the President some degree of discretionary power (delegated legislation). Like both legislative statutes and regulations promulgated by government agencies, executive orders are subject to judicial review, and may be struck down if deemed by the courts to be unsupported by statute or the Constitution. Major policy initiatives usually require approval by the legislative branch, but executive orders have significant influence over the internal affairs of government, deciding how and to what degree laws will be enforced, dealing with emergencies, waging war, and in general fine policy choices in the implementation of broad statutes.”

You won’t see the judiciary or the legislative branches strike down any of his EOs.
