TUCSON- The Pima County Elections Department counted 4,772 more ballots today and Republican Martha McSally still leads Congressman Ron Barber by 133 votes.
The current vote total is 109,539 for McSally and 109,406 for Barber.
Pima County still has roughly 200 ballots still to count, but are waiting for voters to present identification before they can be counted. Those voters have until 5 p.m. on Wednesday to present identification for their ballot to count.
An automatic recount will be needed if the voting totals are within 200 votes, or one-tenth of one percent of the number of votes cast for both such candidates.
I wonder how many of those 200 people are not prepared to show valid ID because they don’t have it?
Looking good either way.
With just 200 votes countywide left to count, Republican Martha McSally is the apparent winner of the Congressional District 2 seat.
I hope she wins because of the R by her name, but it was really unbecoming of her when she said she wanted to kick Rick Santorum in the Jimmies.
Great!
I bet very few, if any, of them show up! HA!
Were paper ballots used, or was this strictly voting machines? When a recount is done involving paper ballots, I think that new votes are tallied when the voter didn’t follow the instructions correctly, but the intent of the voter is evident. Democrats seem, for various reasons, less able to follow instructions than Republicans; therefore Democrats profit more often in a recount than do Republicans.
My prediction: If this was all done with voting machines, the Republican wins even after the recount. If it involves paper ballots, the current margin will not be enough to prevent the Democrat from winning in a recount.
Voting machine: Republican victory
Paper ballots: Democrat victory
Where are you getting your “6000” number from?
It’s unknown how many of the 200 votes still left to count in the county are from
voters in CD2. The ballots are conditional provisional, which means the voters
have to appear at the Pima County Recorder’s Office and show their identification
before their votes will be counted.
Barber and company can even try to go on anti-gun junkets with former rep. Gabby and hubby, but no one wants them behind their podiums. Ha, ha!
I was listening to the newsbreaks on 104.1 during James T. Harris’s show around 3:30pm. Afterwards, I did the research online and came up with other numbers, as you can see on my later posts.
I stand corrected, this will go on for a while. You’re right.
“If the count holds at less than about 200 votes between the candidates, it triggers an automatic recount. That would happen early next month.”
Barber voted 76% of the time with Barry. Probably rivaling some Rinos.
“Barber and company can even try to go on anti-gun junkets with former rep. Gabby and hubby...”

Barber is the husband of the former Congresswoman. He took her seat after she retired on disability.
What happened to the nutty astronaut she was married to?
I tried to do a quick search on the house database, but they probably cover up that kind of incriminating information. Good insight and sad.
Oh, I so hope she wins! I’m worried the Democrat will force a recount, though. You know how that works “Oh, lookee here - a box full of Barber ballots that we ‘missed’”.
He was never able to vote for her, because he maintained a house in Texas for his work for NASA. And she was rarely in Tucson because she was with him before the shooting.
Meanwhile, he’s been trying to “catch” gun vendors selling to those without a proper background check (getting busted as a fraud when he supplied false information when he tried to prove the point), and he’s hustling gigs for them as the next Brady widow anti-gun duo. During the election, I heard there were no takers, and spokeswoman described them as “disappointed.”
“What happened to the nutty astronaut she was married to?”

My apologies, she’s still married to the nutty former astronaut. Barber was formerly her chief of staff I believe. I got them mixed up.
In post #19, I quote an article that describes how they have to re-interpret and recount PAPER ballots.
I fear you made a prediction that we won’t like.
Sorry, not true - Gabby Giffords’ hubby is a former astro-nut named Kelly.
And sorry again - I just read your correction!
