Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has said he wants recipients of food stamps and unemployment benefits to undergo drug tests, a move that could face possible legal trouble.
The state is already one of five that require public assistance applicants who are convicted of drug felony charges to be tested for drugs, along with Maine, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Virginia, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Should Walker propose a broader measure that involves testing benefits applicants either randomly or without suspicion that they have used drugs, it could be found unconstitutional because of a 2003 Michigan Court of Appeals case, the NCSL said.

So you have to get a drug test to work just about anywhere so you can support yourself and your family and pay taxes that go to support people who do not have to work to have a living given them and do not have to bother with drug test. I bet they hope you pass your drug test. What we’ve done is failed the sanity test.
I’d drug test voters too.

This is truly a great move, and I believe it demonstrates what we need in a leader in general: someone who isn't afraid to stand by his or her principles, damn the consequences.
We are seeing in Scott Walker what happens when a principled man tries to enact the ideas he promised he would: he's re-elected consistently and loved unconditionally.
We need more representatives and governors like Scott Walker, IMO.
We passed the sanity test some time ago...now we are in the insane area...from here it’s a long slippery slope I am not sure where the bottom is and it will be a bumpy ride...Freegards

Very lovely friend of mine whose clothing store closed needed a part-time job to pay for retraining at school. She was so humiliated to have to pass drug test to work at the supermarket, literally in tears. But she did it and a year later she has her certificate as a licensed physical therapist.

The experience in Florida was that the collection, testing and corresponding bureaucracy ended up costing more than it saved in tossing drug users off the rolls.
Of course it’s a no brainer. And that’s why a liberal judge will find it unconstitutional. And naturally, Walker will be called a racist. Standard procedure in Wisconsin.

In my EMS experience in New Haven our OD’s are mostly welfare recipients. We had one yesterday. She was a “dreamer” enjoying her sanctuary city protected status along with some bad H ... until we chafed her buzz with narcan. She’s lucky to be alive today. All at taxpayer expense.
Walker doesn’t FOOL ME. I want DRUG ABUSERS to get their goodies from government...yep, that’s what I want.
if you have to pass drug tests to work you should have to forbenefits not to work. fairness, yes? if the people paying for others bennies have to, the recipients should.
Yes. We should subject our overlords to random tests as well. .Gov should not be immune from such invasions. Start with Mr. Walker.
