President Obama drew a sharp rebuke from senior Republicans on Capitol Hill for pushing broad regulation of Internet broadband service, with lawmakers warning that such a move would imperil the thriving Internet economy and the American jobs it creates.
The president touched off the battle after issuing a lengthy statement on Monday on so-called net neutrality. Staking out his position, the president called on the Federal Communications Commission to more heavily regulate Internet providers and treat broadband much as it would any other public utility.

Anytime a government agency gets involved with something, it has a ‘chilling effect’...............
Sure! That's it!
Just like the IRS doesn't concern itself with "free speech." They just don't want conservatives, or conservative organizations, to have any of it, without audits, investigations, threats, and fines.
But the FCC would NEVERRR concern itself with whether an 'anti-government website' (Free Republic, anyone?) should pay a higher fee because of the hazards (family, heterosexuality, family, Christianity, patriotism, gun ownership) it represents.
No, that would NEVERRR happen.

Reagan’s law regarding government offering to help us out of a jam:
“In this current crisis, government is not the solution; government is the problem.”
If you don’t like the way your ISP treats you, sign-up with a different service. ISPs are not public utilities. Free enterprise is always the best way to conduct business.
If you like your internet you can keep it...
There’s always an ulterior motive when libs meddle in anything. Claiming they seek fairness, their goal is always to grab more control of everything and punish people who disagree with them. This goes with the innate bent of virtually all leftists towards totalitarianism.
With the continuation of the current ‘leadership’, regardless of the latest tsunami of new incomers, I’m not holding my breath to wait for the ZERO’ing out of the FCC budget, let alone the cries of ‘by what authority’ (IE: TALKING about the Constitution....that’d open a WHOLE cans of worms neither side wants)
So, let me get this straight: Because of some ‘abuses’ by the cabal of telecoms/internet providers/etc., it’ll be better under the monopoly of Fedzilla, whom has the power of FORCE for compliance....Say, whom do I call in D.C. when I want to complain?
Every day a new distraction from the regime.
On my way to do just that
This is like WTF, it wasn’t but 4 years ago Conservatives were all over and for net neutrality.
This debate is being staged and a little misdirection on the narrative of what net neutrality means. Is this the fallout from GOP win? Net censorship? I thought that’s what the liberals threatened us with while we were standing up to it. Now the world is upside down.
When did ‘Net Neutrality’ doctrine transition into Government regulating free speech on the internet? A few years ago Net Neutrality meant common carriers had to carry whatever traffic was presented to them without fees or throttling, unless directed by law enforcement (and most ignored that).
The government will always find a way to get its nose into the tent—if we allow it.
MEMO TO THE GOP: Then S.T.O.P. THE S.O.B.!!
