WASHINGTON (AP) — White voters of all ages were less likely to back Democrats this year than in elections past, helping Republi5395a874abffae2b640f6a70670072dccans nationwide but most acutely in the South — and overpowering Democratic efforts to turn out their core supporters among Blacks and Hispanics.
In a nation growing ever more diverse, political forecasters repeatedly warn Republicans they must improve their appeal among minorities in order to remain competitive in the long term.

If you look at the numbers, the GOP did marginally improve its performance amongst all Democrat constituency groups.

So they are electing senators for two year terms in NC now? I knew the democrats were frauds, but this is ridiculous!

Probably code for “blacks”. The “improvement” is underway with regard to Hispanics. I’ve read that there were some races where Republicans got 40% of the Hispanic vote.
In Texas, both Greg Abbott (governor) and Dan Patrick (lt. gov.) got over 40% of the vote. In fact, both won the Hispanic male vote.
Further, understand that both candidates ran strong "secure the border/no amnesty" campaigns.
Plus, Patrick's opponent was, in fact, a Latino female.
The lesson for Republicans should be that the way to win a greater share of the Hispanic vote is to stand for secure borders and against amnesty.
Much obliged. Those two examples cannot be dismissed.
Another lesson might be that a lot of Hispanics are Catholic and were repulsed by Abortion Barbie.
That played a part, no doubt.
But it's also obvious that securing the border and resisting amnesty aren't deal-killers with legal Hispanics.
Legal Hispanics don’t want the Mexican gang members in their neighborhoods.
Oh I wasn’t suggesting one or the other, both, certainly. I’ve seen any number of articles over the years where people who’ve immigrated by the book say WTF about the southern border situation, just like native-born Americans do.
Heard this evening a fact reported on Fox that the age 65+ demo is increasing faster than the ‘minority’ population and the babyboomers are the natural constituency of the GOP. So, things may not look as bad for old white folk as previously thought.
The worst nightmare for Hyphenated-Americans is a white race as race conscious as they are.
Old people in the past have responded to Dem ads saying Republicans want old people to die; I don’t know how reliable they are. After ObamaCare was passed with a stipulation that part of the funding would cut from cuts to Medicare, they should have been a lock for Republicans; it was a blatant wealth transfer from mostly white older people to mostly non-white younger people (including illegals).
Do you remember the news story within the past two or three years that more white people died than were born? That 65+ demo might be growing, but only because the 65- demo is shrinking; I see it firsthand in schoolyards and playgrounds; it was credited with electing and re-electing Obama.

I see it as well but the baby boom didn’t peak until 1964 as I recall. I was born in 1952 and that says that the peak in 65+ white folk has still yet to be reached. So if it truly was a factor in this last wave of disgust election, it may continue to be so for several cycles. And then we will have served our usefulness and can die happily knowing that we did what we could to save the republic and what happens thereafter will occur either for the good or for the enslavement of generations to come.
Elections will probably become de rigeur in any case as the AI Robots will have assumed control in 20 years.
Still trying to convince us that last week was actually bad news for Repubs, I guess...

I wrote it here years ago and I’ll say it again: Obama will set race relations in this country back 100 years.
I believe Obama’s racial politics has pushed many whites back towards a somewhat conservative approach; young white libs have had a tough time over the past few years as opportunities simply don’t exist for them. As companies cut their middle-aged and older American workers they didn’t replace them with younger, cheaper Americans; they replaced them with younger, cheaper foreigners. Hopefully this will influence young whites in future elections.
