“I don’t know why, who would choose it?” King argued.

If Sanders is fired, King should be fired as well. What is he insinuating when he asks, "Who would choose it?"

The question implies King thinks the behavior is so abhorrent nobody in their right mind would engage in it of his or her own free will.

An alternative interpretation could be that homosexuals are so poorly treated by this unjust and benighted society that no one would chose to be that way.
