My 50 year old RN wife was arrested a few weeks ago for daring to ask a deputy a question. Cuffs, trip to the jail, the whole bit.

The same deputies roam the city geared up like they are headed outside the wire in Afghanistan.

"My 50 year old RN wife was arrested a few weeks ago for daring to ask a deputy a question."

That is the reason I now keep a large empty space between myself and cops when it is possible.

At one time long ago, I felt comforted by the presence of an officer. That is not the case now.

I usually defend cops but man this guy was way out of line. Fire him and sue the county.

Look, friend, I’m just telling you the law as it stands in NYS. You don’t like it, write your Congressman. Don’t judge me from behind your keyboard. It makes you look silly and beneath intelligent conversation.

I'm sorry that you've had less than optimal experiences with police officers. I'm not going to judge you the way you've judged me, though.

Maybe you were in the wrong, maybe the cops were. I hope it wasn't the cops, because we are held to a higher standard. But I have a feeling that you and I won't agree on even the most basic level, so why even try? All I know is that if you and I ever interacted and I was acting in a professional capacity, I would treat you like a gentleman. I hope you can say the same.

In NYS, that’s not assault.

Hitting someone in the face is not an assault?

What the hell do you call this?

Perhaps it is you that needs to think about what I was saying, I know what I was saying.

So you just continue using liberal tactics and keep calling yourself a good conservative.

Continue being a cop hater and do something constructive like protest at every opportunity where a cop is involved in the use of deadly force.

Because we all know you are a vast intellect and anyone that disagrees with you and sides with the police when there is no concrete evidence to show that he is either outright bad or made a split second decision resulting in a mistake, bootlickers.

May God bless you and your family and bring you health, wealth & happiness. Hopefully I am not insulting you by offering my blessing.

” . I hope it wasn’t the cops,
because we are held to a higher standard.”

What high standard is that? The same high standard that allowed the Dorner hunt shootings to go unpunished? The same high standard that allows numerous other killings? Mistaken raids? And constant bad attitudes that scream “my crap don’t stink.”

It isn’t called the Thin Blue Line for nothing. What we see is a lower standard of expectation, not a higher one. Look at this cop’s partner. He went along with this, instead of jerking this nut up short for his criminal behavior.
This cop doesn’t even see his actions as wrong. He only regrets that a camera caught him so that the cops couldn’t lie their way out of this.

I won’t treat you like a gentleman any more that I would a Blood or a Crip, and they are less of a threat to me.

I’ll again tell you that you are stupid with your Marine comparison. This is the problem with many cops; you just don’t understand that you are stupid.

Stupid, unaware and badged up are a terrible combination.

You’d think I’d give a shit about your opinion. But it’s evident you have zero understanding about any of these issues. Being a cop and an Army Officer has exposed to me people like you. You’d be a joke if you weren’t so pathetic. I feel sorry for you. And I’ll leave it at that.

The word “battery” is nowhere to be found in NYS penal law.

#27 In NYS, that’s not assault.

These are your words, not some politicians.

BTW, if ya don't think hitting someone in the face is not assault, go up to the next cop ya see in NY or anywhere else and try that.

Again, you're FOS.

Bro, I've been an NYC cop for over a decade. SIMPLY SLAPPING SOMEONE IN THE FACE IS NOT NECESSARILY ASSULT. Like I said, if there is no injury, it's harassment.

As per NYS Penal Law (look at #3):

A person is guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree when, with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm another person, he or she:
1. Either
(a) communicates with a person, anonymously or otherwise, by telephone, or by telegraph, mail or any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm; or
(b) causes a communication to be initiated by mechanical or electronic means or otherwise with a person, anonymously or otherwise, by telephone, or by telegraph, mail or any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm; or

2. Makes a telephone call, whether or not a conversation ensues, with no purpose of legitimate communication; or

3. Strikes, shoves, kicks, or otherwise subjects another person to physical contact, or attempts or threatens to do the same because of a belief or perception regarding such person`s race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, religious practice, age, disability or sexual orientation, regardless of whether the belief or perception is correct; or
