Also, as language is relearned some words come out really confused. It is very much like a sped up version of childhood. They have to literally relearn most things.

I am thinking he was released around 6 months from the time of the accident. But the recovery continues for several years.

You seem like a really good friend. That is awesome of you.

The first time I knew he was all there was during a physical therapy session where they had him laid out on a mat and were trying to get him to sit up. It was like a very large 4 or 5 month old. They got him up, even though he was still slumped over, and made him look in the mirror.

Well, oh my goodness he looked a mess. His head had been shaved but some bits of hair here and there were full length and other bits were starting to grow in. He couldn’t dress himself so it was borderline at best. He couldn’t shower or bathe so it was just the sponge bath level cleanliness.

He looked at himself in the mirror and an expression of HORROR came over his face. I about died laughing. I knew he was in there even though he could not talk.
