What's next for Charlie Crist? [Florida Dem Party In Shambles]
Herald Tribune ^ | 11/5/14 | Zac Anderson

Posted on 11/06/2014 7:36:42 PM PST by SoFloFreeper

Democrats bet big on Charlie Crist’s bid for governor, and his loss Tuesday is not only a potential career-ending outcome for one of Florida’s most prominent political figures of the last two decades, but also another gut check for a party at a low point in statewide influence...

Democrats lost six seats in the state House of Representatives, giving the GOP a super majority. The partisan makeup of the state Senate did not change, but Republicans are still just one lawmaker shy of their all-time high.

Additionally, every Cabinet position — governor, attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner — remains in Republican hands. U.S. Senator Bill Nelson continues to be the only statewide elected Democrat.

....Florida Democrats invested nearly all of their resources in Crist this election cycle. There was little time, money or energy that went into down-ballot races that can be important to grooming future statewide contenders....

The vaunted Crist field operation — described as a scaled-down version of what President Barack Obama employed in Florida in 2008 and 2012 — focused on Democrat-heavy South Florida, but turnout did not increase enough in Broward and Palm Beach counties from the lackluster 2010 levels to give Crist the boost he needed.

There is a great deal behind what you have said here. First, the TV interview Morgan did was one of a fat, drunkard, trial lawyer consolidator (never goes to court, consolidates other lawyers to rake in “split fees” with them “defending” DUIs,divorce mills, small claims and malpractice). In one sentence he attributed the loss to “old people” who don’t know better (a rather childish attitude of arrogance— after all, an old jazz musician knows nothing about LSD,morphine, heroin and pot— sure), who will die off.

He is delusional. There is a YOUNG group of conservative people coming up who are NOT stoners- a new generation, who are children of the useless stoners and gimme-dats (some of them anyway, who haven’t become gimme-dats themselves). Those who want to be part of the opportunity society. Those who question the medical validity of what these “medical marijuana” pitchers have been pushing- using the internet fact checking.

The most glaring thing, is that in fact- big Tobacco is behind this effort, and if successful they would push out/buy out all of these “medical” growers/sellers. Talking to people in the tobacco industry— and they will tell you how RJ Reynolds in particular is positioned. The two most hated industries, tobacco and big pharma— both have a hand in this. And they hate the Tea Party uniformly.

It was formerly managed under the Sec. of State. Shifted to Ag and Consumer Services.

Believe it was Charles Bronson, Ag Sec under Bush and then Crist (as Bush’s coattail liberal protege- whose tune was certainly different then- Crist being a chameleon and a tool and a mistake of a human being— loathsome).

If they’re at a low ebb in influence, how the heck did Patrick Murphy win his district by 20 points when last time he barely clocked Allen West and had to win with fraud?

That's Soutn Florida. Dems had the juice to crank out turnout in South Florida. It just was less than what the R's did in North and Central Florida.

A disgusting individual, personally and professionally. Quite well known, with simple research, that the guy (ostensibly married) spends all his time drunk or high (or both) hanging out in his “club” the strip joints “Rachels” and hanging with his NBA “homies” (the Magic players) so he can be a “celeb”.
He was a CWA union member telephone repairman— then became an ambulance chaser.

I also agree Adam Putnam would be a good candidate for Governor in 2018 when Governor Scott must leave.

I prefer to believe that Crist was put forth as the candidate because others chose not to run against the incumbent. Christ was sort of a sacrificial goat

The queer angle is what did it— the actual truth of who this clown is. And, through the queers he got hooked up with the environmental greenies who rubbed the agriculture producers and landowners raw... with their effort to “conserve” land by forcing tax pressures on producing lands to be converted into “conservancies” and.... take them of the tax rolls to boot.

Forcing farmers (large commercial and the family farmers) off their land... to break the back of the producing families of Florida.... citrus, cattle, sugar, and yes, even the honey industry (linked to the citrus thru pollination needs).

Crist is a fraud, opportunist. Frankly, he is mobbed up through white powder.. and turned long ago. The Bushes have a LOT to answer for to true conservatives and family values.

I also agree Pam Bondi would be great, but love her as our Attorney General!

What’s next for Chuckie? Probably HIV.

Pardon the double entendre, but that's a blow below the belt!

Both the governor's office and senate seat are up in 2018..and Nelson might decide to retire...there are several candidates for either spot..Atwater, Putnam, and I think Bondi has plans as well..

Dems, OTOT, have NO bench..

Well, there is the Whig party. I don’t know if they would have him, though.

Hopefully, Charlie Christ's next position will be the unemployment line. Floridians shouldn't elect this swarmy turncoat to any position. Christ could even screw-up a dog catcher's job.
