McConnell unveils plan to dismantle ObamaCare
The Hill ^ | 11-6-14 | Sarah Ferris

Posted on 11/06/2014 10:50:08 AM PST by afraidfortherepublic

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is planning to make ObamaCare a priority in his first weeks as leader of the Senate, vowing a sustained effort to dismantle the law piece-by-piece.

Instead of a full repeal, McConnell said the GOP will tackle unpopular aspects of the law such as the individual mandate, the medical device tax and the 30-hour workweek requiring employers to provide insurance.

“These are the kinds of things that I believe there is a bipartisan majority in the Senate to approve,” he said in the interview with Time magazine published Wednesday. The only other priority he listed was the Keystone XL pipeline. The newly reelected senator isn't giving up on full repeal, however.

"He does support full repeal and will continue to push for it," McConnell spokesman Brian McGuire told The Hill.

Exactly. And we already know the Ruling Class GOP Leadership is in deep with the Chamberpot of Crony Fascism, and it is the Chamberpot that will pushing Jeb or Christie on us all.

We have a Uniparty in D.C., and still - even when the leaders are telling us this point-blank, those with Normalcy Bias and Cognitive dissonance are going to make all kinds of excuses - including that the GOP is powerless to do anything until they win the presidency.

Then it begins all over again, and we have a repeat of 2002-2006.

Wash, rinse, repeat. The nation still goes belly-up and Marxist Fascism rules while paying lip service to a dead Republic.

When we discover that the entire government in D.C. is not going to get rid of ObamaCare, but massage it for public consumption while making it permanent like the Income Tax, then the power to abolish this tyranny is up to the people.

Refuse to comply with it.

Defy it.

And when the tyrants come to force their way upon us - hopefully there are enough Americans who love liberty to make those agents of the state consider if their lives are worth imposing tyranny upon a people who will not bow down to it.

Lives, fortunes, sacred honor.

How many Americans are left who will be willing to sacrifice the same as our forbears in refusal to submit to tyranny?

.

Ted Cruz has already called for a piece-meal dismantling of ObamaCare.

"Piecemeal" is better that "wholesale" because each item gets VIEWED by the entire American Public, kinda like a strip show.

One piece at a time.

But it does not currently have the the votes to override BHO’s veto. That’s all I’m saying.

There are still a lot of democrat senators in Red States that will be up for election in 2016. You don't know if some of them would not vote to repeal Obamacare. Neither Obama nor Reid have any leverage on them now.

Regardless, an up or down vote on repeal was what McConnell and the other Republicans who won were running on. Now they are too chicken to follow through with their promised agenda. And guys like you are cheering them on.

And people are ragging on me because I am a cynic.

The only way to get rid of Obamacare once and for all in its entirety is to elect a GOP POTUS and Congress dedicated to repealing it.

No it isn't. But feel free to keep going with that propaganda, it helps give the GOPe cover for not doing what they were elected to do.

Trade no Obamacare repeal for no EO on amnesty.

IOW, tell Obama he can keep his unconstitutional liberty robbing masterpiece as long as he doesn't violate the constitution further by granting Amnesty to illegals.

Quisling would be proud.

SEE KENTUCKY! WE COULD HAVE HAD THE SENATE WITHOUT HIM!

I didn't vote for him but it's obvious he was the biggest winner of all. And now, no matter what Obama throws at him, it will be like hitting a bag of wet goo.

But in the meantime, that’s no excuse for the “right” side to stop doing what’s right.

Exactly what Sarah said today when asked if she would pursue impeachment even if it would bog down the government and lead to a Clintonian type situation.

I agree that we don’t have the votes to override a presidential veto. I don’t agree that we shouldn’t try to repeal ObamaCare.

First, is simple honesty. It was PROMISED. It should be tried. If I promise the people 2 chickens in every pot, I should at least set up a chicken distribution system. Otherwise, it isn’t Marlowe who is being cynical; it’s all those who say ‘it’s just politics, we don’t really have to follow through.’ Now THAT’S cynicism.

Second, we should try it because it might actually succeed. It really is a big gawdawful mess and there might be politicians out there aching to get rid of it and have it off their ledger of responsibility. You’ll never know until you try. EVEN Obama might secretly be wishing he could ditch that piece of junk. He’d need some way to save face, but so did Chewbacca.

Third, we should go for the whole ball of wax, because that sets the stage for going after smaller pieces. If you start by telling me you’re taking a thousand bucks from me, imagine how relieved I’ll be if you just take 40 cents. If you start with something small and get to screaming and squealing about that, then you’ve make the road to the whole thing impossible.

All this Big talk is just that. If the Republicans had wanted to stop Obamacare all they had to do was not fund it in the budget,

Bingo!

Sounds like he got a notice from the Ted Cruz wing of the Senate...

This is a great way to go about it.

Demand roll call votes on every part. Let the RINOs and RATS go on the record.

There should be enough votes in both chambers to override, if their feet are kept to the fire, if they have to go on the record.

Obamacare is a stinking carcass which can be draped around every RAT in Washington.

And pigs could fly and he may not veto it...

It can be framed as a win-win, veto it or not. Heads we win, tails he loses.

The Medical Device Tax is obviously a red herring, an unpopular and stupid “throwaway law” to make it appear they are doing something by repealing it...

Not a throwaway law. Obama wanted a bill that would cost a minimum amount to enact...that was part of the lie. This was done in ways such as the medical device tax, where $$$ go to fund Obamacare.

There's the cuts in Medicare reimbursements, which were counted as $$$ available to fund Obamacare.

Every time one of these cr@p sandwiches is repealed, it makes the cost of OC that much more clear.

As much as I would like to see the entire Obamacare law fully repealed, last I checked BHO still wields a veto pen. The best we can do right now is chip away at it piece by piece. And not fund it. Until a new POTUS is elected.

I don't agree. Obama doesn't have to run again, but all the congresscritters and Senators have to.

I think the votes will be there for overriding parts of OC.

Remove Obama first. That is the path.

That requires no effort on the part of anyone.

Since Washington will have all that free time, might as well put it to good use...

McConnell already announced the first chip at Obamacare. He said that they were going to go back to declaring a forty hour work week as full time employment, which would mean that Employers would not be subjected to Obamacare rules for employees who worked less than forty hours. People get to keep their jobs.

*sigh*. Don’t you get it? HE DOESN’T CARE. He doesn’t care that he lost. That his party lost. He couldn’t care less. He thinks he’s above it all.
