The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell more than expected last week, while a reading on U.S. productivity came in better than expected..

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 278,000 for the week ended Nov. 1, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

The Labor Department said on Thursday productivity grew at a 2.0 percent annual rate after expanding at an upwardly revised 2.9 percent pace in the second quarter.

93,000,000 Americans are currently out of work.

Yep! They forgot it’s Thursday. They meant to put this out last Monday, to try and sway the elections with lies.

So, 278,000 people lost their jobs, 238,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate went down. Got it.

“So, 278,000 people lost their jobs, 238,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate went down. Got it.”

It’s common core.

A lot of these stats are dubious but you do have to take into account people moving into already open job slots. That adds to the working total.

Not the way it works... Thousands are hired and fired each week. Always been that way. The +238 in your example would be the net growth (hires less fires - leaving aside different surveys/methodologies, etc.) BTW NFP is announced tomorrow at 8:30. Consensus estimate is for +230K and U3 to remain at 5.9%.

Actually I was just trying to appear dubious. We know the numbers are meaningless with this regime.

Remember the census whistle blowers that admitted that unemployment rate below 8% was made up just before the 2012 dlectionto help Ebola.

This is also the time that businesses start their Christmas season hiring.

The U6 is above 10% and Shadow Stats has a real UE well above 20%

Shadow Stats is more believable than the regime.

250,000 entering the work force every month (not counting illegals) that aren't counted as unemployed if they can't find a job.

93,000,000 (yeah, that's million) working age Americans are not working.

Workforce participation rate in the low 60%..

Yeah, that Shadow Stats is so laughable, I'll believe the Ebola regime that the UE rate is 5.9%
