House Speaker John Boehner and incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, outlining their legislative vision for the last two years of Barack Obamas presidency, are vowing to try to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
The Republican House speaker from Ohio and incoming Senate majority leader from Kentucky noted that a commitment to creating jobs means renewing our commitment to repeal Obamacare, which is hurting the job market along with Americans health care. The ACA remains a politically divisive issue, and further attempts at repeal would surely be met with significant Democratic opposition and a White House veto.

It takes a special kind of cynic to not even be able to enjoy this repudiation for a couple of days. Takes a special kind of shallow analysis to miss the fact that Obama Care is an issue where the differences in the parties is monstrous.
This year everyone else feels the new law and there are to be massive cost increases to those buying it. There are going to be companies that will stop paying for their employee's health care and many more that will decrease hours to 29 a week to avoid the law as well.
All this will hurt the economy, grow more non labor participation in this country and basically this year the shit hits the fan for all. Will be interesting.
As an example, my wife already has seen a 300% increase in her policy cost.
My little guy who is six is seeing a doubling of his cost to more than $200 a month (for a healthy no problem child).
Obamacare is about having the government controlling employment and deployment involving healthcare. They will stink at it and they have of course created new government employees in the middle that are pushing paper. It is always about growing more government employees since government employees mostly vote Democrat.
DITTO!
They ("*itch" McConnell and John *HIC!* Boemher)
helped preserve it to keep it going.
Voters didn’t turn most of the country RED overnight so we could KEEP obamacare.
There MUST be every effort to repeal it!
Hmmm every time O vetoes something decrease the WH budget or eliminate one of the jets the first family uses for their own pleasure
I heard McConnell’s press conference. He stated unequivocally that he has no intention of repealing Obamacare. Then later in the day a press release came out saying that he did.
And you don’t think he is a liar?
Basically, they’d have to replace it with something else at this point.
The issue, which existed years ago and is still the overall issue...is plain old cost. The idea of some operation costing $17,900, and then you go to some European countries and find cost controls built into the system, and the same surgery or treatment is $9,900. Then you start to ask why. That’s what the Democrats and Republicans should have asked decades ago, and should have centered upon instead of this contrived distribution game.
Gripping onto the issue that some junkie will show up at the hospital and get $22,000 of service to save his life and then he walks out two weeks later, never paying that debt with insurance or cash...merely means that we all get stuck with his $22,000 of service to keep him alive another week, another month, or another year.
Make sure every politician and government worker and their families are on Obamacare and watch how quick they get rid of it.
I hope they do something soon. This is the second year in a row that my policy has been canceled. Last year, the premium was reasonable on a replacement policy. But this year, a replacement policy will have a 60% higher premium!
I am livid and have called my Senators (both D so they don’t care) and Congressman (R and is in favor of repeal) to complain.
Most people don’t know what their increases are going to be, because the employer mandate has yet to kick in and people were allowed to keep their policies another year after the stink was raised last year. The stuff will hit the fan around Nov. 15 when all the new rates will be made public. (This should also seal the fate of Miss L in LA, who insists she would still vote for Obamacare, even if the vote were held today.)
People are going to be outraged and it will be a good time for the GOP to strike while the iron is hot.
Rats up for re-election in 2016 should be amenable to supporting some changes, if not outright repeal. They have to be quaking in their boots after seeing the slaughter on Tues. with a campaign based largely on opposition to Obamacare.
It remains to be seen if Obama will be obstinate or if he cares enough about the fortunes of his party to amend his “legacy” act.
This is the “affordable” care act. If it gets any more “affordable”, I’m going to have to sell my house in live in my RV.
OCare is not going to get repealed until the first quarter of 2017. But the GOP can get rid of it in parts and also defund a lot of it.
Repubs need to get through the lame duck session before jumping ahead .... my guess is that Harry/Obola will be looking to maximize their damage during that time .... AG confirmation of the most obnoxious, far left radical they can cram through, for starters.
It's a big assumption on your part that they are actually "enjoying" the repudiation. I think many would rather have seen the Rats win to "teach the GOP a lesson".
See I knew you would go there. I knew you would assume that I suddenly “trust” McConnell and Boehner - because you have no legitimate reason to be a bitter jackass today and yet, you are.
It takes zero intellectual ability to always, always, always be cynical. It’s the refuge of the unhappy and uncurious.
No I don’t trust McConnell and Boehner, but there are many anti Obama Care conservatives who are also more powerful in both the House and Senate now than ever. AND, being political animals, McConnell and Boeher now understand the anti Obama Care sentiment is much larger than they realized.
Will they do the right thing? Maybe. Maybe not. But I’m gonna enjoy the thrashing of the Dems now - there will be plenty of time to be suspicious later.
Bingo! They have the gall to exempt themselves from the onerous Obamacare burden while happily subjecting the rest of us to it.
Talk to the hand, Cry Baby.
Well, why don’t you do something to encourage it? Everybody here seems to think they’re the cool kids on the block by immediately scoffing at anything said by anyone other than a favored few, jeering at them and giving them no support - and then they wonder why these attempts never get any further than being just suggestions.
Write to these people and tell them you agree, you really want to see Obamacare gone - yesterday! Don’t tell them they don’t really mean it anyway, or they won’t really mean it because they know they’ll get no support.
Maybe you’re right...and that too requires a special kind of cynic. IE...an idiot.
