Republicans moved up to a 28-5 advantage in the state Senate with Tuesday's election.

In Hamilton County, Senator Bo Watson was unopposed. He received 37,377 votes.

Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey (R-Blountville) said, "A great night for Republicans and the cause of conservatism in Tennessee. For the past few years, the Tennessee Senate has been the most Republican east of the Mississippi.

After tonight, we join a elite group of Republican super majorities where the majority outnumbers Democrats more than 4 to 1.

"These results are decisive proof that, in Tennessee, it matters who governs. I look forward to continuing to give Tennessee voters what they have demanded and deserve: more jobs, less government and strong education reform."

We have 33 seats in our state senate and 99 seats in the legislature..

Just a few years ago we finally controlled the state senate for the first time since Reconstruction..

Now the Republicans own it ...

Waiting for the EPA to come in and declare the Tennessee Democrat an endangered species.

It’s about time. But Nana, can we TN folks stop voting for RINO’s? Haslam? What a joke. Sundquist? Don’t get me started. Lamar! Corker, Frist??

I’m sad to say that since we moved to TN in 1990, Phil Bredesen has been the best governor overall.

And unlike Lamar! and Haslam, he never campaigned on “I balanced the budget” like the RINO’s do. No DUH Sherlock, it’s constitutionally required.

That’s true. But I did find it ironic he fought the courts over “HillaryCare” Ned McWhorter got (Tenncare) because of imposed cost.

This state is weird but I’m not leaving. Majority of my ancestors are from here. And I was born in GA (dad in Army) lived from 10 months to 10 years old in southern CA and then AR (dad born there as well as his and then his and then his...but they all came from TN). Now I’m back.

I was thinking about this last night: When we moved to TN in 1990 the Dems had the governor, the state legislature, 2 US Senators and the House was about 7-2 Dem.

Just 25 years later and it’s all GOP now.

Yeah, it was Ned. Gore and “Daffycet” Jim Sasser were Senators. And remember ol’ Bob Clemens was everywhere and always touted as “the next big thing”! HA

Jim Cooper is the only Dem still around.
