one of the last of this season's election flyers arrived at my Post Office from the GOP. :
SCOTT BROWN HAS A STRONG RECORD OF FIGHTING FOR WHAT IS RIGHT.
SCOTT IS PRO-CHOICE & SUPPORTS ISSUES IMPORTANT TO WOMEN.
But this flyer came from the NH Republican State Committee.
"The official position of the State Committee is that it is opposed to abortion.
We believe that life is sacred, from conception to natural death and that we cannot diminish the value of one category of human life without diminishing the value of all human life."
Now maybe that's all squaresville, Nevertheless, it's the official position,
When a man tells you his word is bullsh*t, take him at it.
look at how the State Committee characterizes Brown's position: The candidate is "pro-choice" and "supports issues important to women". That's Democrat framing: Opposition to abortion is part of the Republican war on women, etc. So it's not just a policy dispute or a matter of personal conscience on which people of good faith can disagree.
Presumably down at head office in Concord one of the oleaginous creeps with which "professional" politics is infested assured everyone that there was no downside to issuing a flyer indistinguishable from the Democrats because, those pro-life rubes have nowhere else to go, right?
Maybe. But, even in cynical and opportunist terms, oughtn't a functioning party be sophisticated enough to be able to target pro-choice flyers at independents and squishy moderates and mail something a little less openly contemptuous to its own base? The GOP knows its customers and it despises them.
The Republican State Committee has swallowed Democrat framing of the issue hook, line and sinker.
Tonight may well see a nominal victory for Republicans, but they remain a party for losers.

Oh well, at least Scott Brown drives a truck.
I suspect that the majority of Republicans in NH probably agree with Scott Brown. The NH Republican Party knows it’s supporters. Prayers that we take the Senate........even if some of the New R Senators aren’t as Conservative as we would like them to be.
Everybody knows that.
Happy Election Day. Remember to vote early and often.
The rubes might stay home, which they have been known to do. I guess they figure there are more swing voters that rubes.
I was rooting for SB the first time, but not so much now.
If the best argument the GOP can make in New England is “our candidate won’t try and stop you from murdering your unborn child”, then the country is pretty much finished anyway.
Hey the way I look at it Scott Brown votes Republican most of the time. A Dem in that seat never will.
Scott Brown won’t vote for Harry Reid for Majority Leader.
Don’t vote.
Freepers flocking to the polls know they will be sold out on Wednesday.
But they denounce me for staying away from today’s dog and pony show. LOL
There ya go. Scot Brown is at least mostly republican.
Plus—the more Republicans win Senate seats, the unhappier the mainstream media will be, not to mention Obama.
