While many religious leaders might condemn 29-year-old Brittany Maynard's decision to end her own life under Oregon's Death With Dignity Act, the bishop of the Evangelical Catholic Diocese of the Northwest is "spiritually and personally sure" she was "received into God's loving hands." . . . .

The bishop wasn't making a "blanket endorsement" of physician-assisted suicide, said William Morton, a spokesperson for the Evangelical Catholic Church's Northwest region.

It doesn't matter if Maynard was a Christian or not, Morton said, because the bishop doesn't think belief in God is a requirement for entry into heaven.

"God is not worried about what church a person belongs to," Morton said. "God's love is unconditional."

Watching that video of Lauren made me smile and made me cry. What a beautiful human being she is. I know that doctors can be wrong and I just hope that Lauren can somehow survive this and keep playing the sport she loves. God Bless this beautiful young lady
