I guess even the police are “gun free” in DC. Otherwise they would have shot the guy before he got away.
There's no mention in the article of the race of the attacker, or the officer, but perhaps he didn't shoot because he doesn't want Holder's Injustice Department breathing down his neck for violating the axe wielder's civil rights.
