In comments sure to cascade into regional races across the South, embattled Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) told NBC's Chuck Todd on Thursday that Southern racism is to blame for President Barack Obama's unpopularity.
"Why does President Obama have a hard time in Louisiana?" asked Todd.
Let me be very, very honest with you," said Landrieu. "The South has not always been the friendliest place for African-Americans. It's been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a very positive light as a leader."
Landrieu added: It has not always been a good place for women, to be able to present ourselves. Its more of a conservative place. So weve had to work a little bit harder on that. But, you know, the people trust me, I believe. Really, they do.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal blasted Landrieu's comments as desperate and out of touch.
"She appears to be living in a different century. Implied in her comments is the clear suggestion that President Obama and his policies are unpopular in Louisiana because of his ethnicity," said Jindal. "That is a major insult by Senator Landrieu to the people of Louisiana, and I flatly reject it."

Which is the party of the KKK? It was Bill Clinton who declared in 2008 "A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags."

Which is really odd when you consider how “wildly popular” so many other people with darker skin are in America. Many of them have become millionaires and billionaires. Sorry Mary, Barry’s unpopularity has to be due to something else.
All I care about is that Nagin is in jail. Maybe Mary should make note...and have a riot or two for his release.
You always know when the issue is settled when the RACE CARD starts flying.
As if.
You know you are about to be fed a shovel full of bullsh*t when a RAT starts out with, "Let me be very, very honest with you".
Polls are showing the too many of the blacks in this election are not motivated to vote for her. This is desperation talking.
Obummer is unpopular because he’s a communist and a muslim who is destroying America.
We have been putting up with the “idiot” for 19 years now. We almost got rid of her twice but she “manages” to get the votes. I wish people would read the real history of the Democratic party and realize that blacks have been their tools for years and lived on dem plantations. Being the deciding vote on obamacare really riled Louisianians because we told her we didn’t want it. Then, in her arrogance she said she would vote for it again KNOWING we didn’t want it in the first place.
Rats won’t actually voice it even if it does creep from the back of their minds to the front -
“Obama is really out to destroy this country, isn’t he!”
But, it’s there, and it will affect their voting patterns.
pss....
Hey Landrieu... we hated Carter too!
(and don’t even get me started on Cankles Clinton!)
Probably a dumb remark politically, but not as dumb as we might think or hope. Won’t hurt her among reliable minority Dem voters, and won’t hurt her among guilt-ridden white leftists who get off wallowing in self-righteous guilt.
Probably cost her a few white votes among the minority of whites who still might vote for either party in statewide elections.
Good going Mary. Call your constituents racists a few days before election day.
Time to stick a fork in this bi***.
She did that to get her base in N’yawlins to turn out and vote for her because “she be dat nice, fat lady dat like da Prezdent and da white man he don’t fo sho; Lawd no.
You know you are about to be fed a shovel full of bullsh*t when a RAT starts out with, “Let me be very, very honest with you”.”
Or when they lead with, “Let me be clear.”
Keep talking... slowly people are getting fed up with this racism crap being pulled out of thin air and blamed on everything.
Soon, liberals are going to need a new shtick.
0bama and Holder hate whites. There’s the racism.
You know? - - in a close race this may cost her a few votes. People are mighty sick of hearing the word ‘racist’ every time the Democrats are upset about their bad poll numbers.
