“Yup. I know what an 80% lower is, and just ask the customers of Ares Armor in Kalifornia just how “off the grid” they were for purchasing 80% lowers that the ATF later decided were more than 80% complete.”

Yes, I know about Aries, but the lowers they were selling were plastic (The BATFE were actually after the people who were molding the parts and Aries got caught up in their action). There is no problem with 80% Aluminum lowers, and as a matter of fact, if you look at Aries website they are in the process of suing the Feds and it looks like they have a case. The BATFE has screwed the pooch on the plastic parts because they tried to claim that the mfr. molded the complete lower then put a colored plastic plug in the FCG hole which is not true. The mfr. actually molded the plug, loaded it into their injection molding machine and overmolded the receiver. So at no time was there ever a functional part. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. There are literally dozens of shops turning out 80% forged aluminum lowers and the BATFE isn’t bothering any of them.

If machining 80% lowers is your thing, go for it. My point was that there's a whole lot of Ares Armor customers who thought they were not on any list because they didn't go through an FFL, but unless they bought the Polymer lower in person, using cash, all it took was one raid by the ATF to get their names and addresses anyway.

For a challenge, I prefer 80 Percent Arms 0% billet lower.
