Cruz: We don't need another Romney or McCain in 2016
CNN ^ | Oct 30, 2014 | Jeremy Diamond

Republicans are doomed in 2016 if they again nominate a candidate like Mitt Romney or John McCain, Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday.

Cruz, a tea party favorite who is considering a presidential bid, said his party needs to nominate a "strong conservative" to win back the White House in 2016. If not, Hillary Clinton will be president, he said in an interview on CNBC.

When asked if former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is too far to the left to fit the conservative bill, the junior senator from Texas said he is a "fan of Jeb Bush's" but added that "we need to learn from history."

"We need to look to history and what works and what doesn't and the one thing is clear is if Republicans run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole, or a John McCain, or a Mitt Romney — and let me be clear, all three of those are good, honorable men. They're decent men. They're patriots," Cruz said. "But if we run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole, or a John McCain, or Mitt Romney, we will end up with the same result, which is millions of people will stay home on Election Day."

And we need a leader who doesn’t inspire laughter from our enemies and hatred from our allies.

Or a Bob Dole. Or JEB! Or any other squish knucklehead.

W. won because he ran as a conservative, even if he really wasn't. The fact that a dolt like Rove (you malignant bastard!) keeps pushing the GOPe shows that he doesn't really want America to move toward conservatism, security and freedom. He want what his NWO handlers tell him to want.

Republicans have to run a candidate who has B@lls, and will get the voters to want to vote for them. Will they wake up to that? or will they let the MSM pick their candidate. The majority of voters don’t really care about Clinton, the Libs are counting on the Conservatives and a large portion of the Independents staying home on election day by promoting another Republican wishy washy Dem Lite candidate. Hillary will only give us 4 more years of the same BS we are experiencing now.

Many ‘Conservatives’ the MSM adores and persists in shoving onto the GOP ticket have NOT ever proved themselves to BE Conservative either in word or deed... and many of them have in fact, consistently proved the opposite!

he is a "fan of Jeb Bush's" but added that "we need to learn from history."

Meaning, the name "Bush" is still Ebola-grade toxic to many and shouldn't even be discussed (except the Left and the GOP-e still do for the very reason that they *know* it is toxic).

If the Right owned the media, do you think they would drop Al Gore's name as a presidential candidate every chance it could get?

It seems like Scott Walker is about to prove that he can win, consistently, in purple states against extremely powerful opposition. Why wouldn’t he be a strong candidate for President? I say this without knowing where he stands on anything. I just know the groups that I despise don’t like him at all. Therefore, he has to be doing something right.

We all know what (and whom) America needs in 2016, and I wish Cruz would unambiguously let conservatives know that he is in the race. The next Bush in line is clearly running, as we can tell from his national activism. Christie is preparing to run (and dieting) as we can tell from his waistline. Rubio is hoping to get it finally, since it’s been his turn for eight years. Romney is assuring us that he’s not running while trying really hard through his supporters to get asked to run as a savior.

What we need is one (and only one) real conservative. Cruz is not my first choice (she’s probably not running), but he would be an excellent candidate and an excellent president. We need him to make it so obvious he’s running that the other conservatives will stay out of the race. I want the RINO vote split four ways (Bush/Christie/Rubio/Romney) while conservatives unite behind one electable conservative with real leadership skills.

Political ads coming out of New Hampshire lately keep repeating, ad infinitum et nauseum, a “too extreme” meme. It’s ridiculous.

We most definitely need a real conservative in the race, but you can expect the media’s “too extreme” howl to begin any time now.

Rove is obviously in the pay of GOP establishment and organizations like the Chamber of Commerce. He and other “advisors” just want their paycheque, and who cares about the future of America. In some ways they are worse than Democrats.

Agree with Cruz. We always lose with moderates or Democrat lite candidates for President. Give us a real conservative and show the voters a real choice for a better economy and a better America—we may win in 2016. I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. No more Bush guys, go away Romney.
