Jeb Bush: My son 'didn't talk to me'
POLITICO ^ | 10/30/14 | JONATHAN TOPAZ |

Jeb Bush is throwing cold water on his son’s statement that the former Florida governor will more than likely run for the 2016 presidential nomination.

In an interview that aired Thursday on MSNBC, Bush — backstage at a campaign event in Colorado on Wednesday for Republican Senate candidate Cory Gardner and gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez — said that his son’s opinions didn’t necessarily reflect his own.

“He’s got an opinion. He didn’t talk to me,” the former Republican governor said, when asked about George P. Bush’s statement last Sunday that it’s a better than 50-50 chance his father will run for president.

“When you have kids, you’ll probably have the same frustration,” he told MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt. “You love them to death and they have their own opinions. But I’ll make up my mind, just as I’ve said, at the end of the year.”

“There’s nothing new here,” Bush added.

In a Sunday interview with ABC’s Jon Karl, George P. Bush said: “I think it’s more than likely … that he’ll run.”

Jeb Bush — the son of former President George H.W. Bush and brother of former President George W. Bush — is openly considering a presidential bid. Moderate Republicans are reportedly urging Bush to run as a more centrist alternative to potential candidates from the GOP’s tea party wing. Bush has been more active in the national media in recent weeks, appearing on the campaign trail and taking shots at Hillary Clinton over her comments on business and President Barack Obama for an “incompetent” response to Ebola.

A Washington Post/ABC News poll released earlier this month showed Bush leading a crowded potential 2016 Republican field with 15 percent of the vote.

Right. Jeb’s got the Bush machine going full blast to buy Gee O Pee a ‘starter office’ in TX and they don’t talk about Daddy Commie Core running for Pres. Sure. I believe that.

George W. was a disaster. But maybe he's just stupid.

George H. W. wasn't too bad.

Maybe Jeb wouldn't be too bad. On the other hand, maybe this is mindless optimism. What do you think?

Not buying it, Jeb.

P’s commentary ON 2 NATIONAL NETWORK Sunday morning talkshows was a trial balloon to see what kind of response his ‘Jeb might run’ statement would get.

“George W. was a disaster. But maybe he’s just stupid.”

I don’t want another Bush in the oval office anytime soon, and I absolutely acknowledge that George W made mistakes, but I definitely don’t think he was a disaster or that he is ‘stupid’. I think he should have been much more forceful in answering the rhetoric being thrown at him from the left, and I think because he wanted to remain ‘outside the fray’ he allowed the left to control the narrative. That had a major effect.

If by "Moderate Republicans" you mean Candy Crowley, George Stepanoophhollouopulos, Bob Beckel, etc.

I agree, but there were a lot of conservatives back then who thought Rove was a political genius.

First off, why is Jeb giving interviews to MSLSD?!

That alone should disqualify him.

I respectfully disagree, George W. may be a good person, but as a President, he was a disaster.

For two years he had control of the House and the Senate and instead of veering us away from Socialism, he doubled down on the growth and reach of the federal government and the increase of the federal debt. He also created the Department of Homeland Security, which will I fear become our version of the KGB and Gestapo.

He refused to answer the drumbeat of attacks (worst economy ever!) that allowed the Democrats to sweep into power, making Obamacare and the Communist Muslim possible.

They say history is written by the winners so we may never see an objective evaluation of his Presidency, but I view him as the final chance to save the America that I knew and loved, and he failed us.

I don’t think Jeb would be as bad as George or George W, but we can do a LOT better.

If he somehow managed to win the primary, I would probably support him in the general election, but I would do everything in my power to stop him in the primary. Lets try running an actual conservative for a change and see what happens.

Exactly. The opposite has happened the last two times.
