The Philippines on Thursday urged hundreds of its citizens to leave Ebola-hit west African nations, as it announced anyone who returned would be placed under a 21-day quarantine.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said the government had made a "voluntary repatriation" call to about 900 workers in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

He told a local television network that President Benigno Aquino III had also ordered those who did return would have to be isolated in a government facility.

"The president has asked us to come down with a ruling, anyone coming from those countries, they must undergo a 21-day quarantine," del Rosario said.

With 10 million Filipinos working abroad, the country is "very vulnerable" amid the outbreak of the killer disease, del Rosario said...

You see, this is the difference in the South American countries. The government can’t be relied on, but when it comes to stuff like this, they are actively useful and dictatorial about making sure their countries are secure from horrific epidemics.

No they are not, but they are trying to prevent the spread of ebola instead of intentionally spreading ebola.

Yes, they are trying to stop ebola from getting in, and the best thing, is that there is NO PC in the Philippines. In Obamaworld, where PC is king, the asshat in the White Hut thinks white people should be willing to catch and die from Ebola, just to show everyone they are not racists, and to assuage their white guilt over slavery. The Filipinos scoff at non sense like that.

Wow! Speaking of ignorance of a subject which I have seen here on FR. The Philippines are Asian, consisting of 7107 Islands located in the western Pacific Ocean.

The government here is not dictatorial, and they are easily relied upon.

As an American now living in Davao City, on the Island of Mindanao, I am in one of the safest cities in the WORLD. Though Islamists are making trouble in some parts of the Philippines (and all over the known world!!!), this city is headed by a Mayor that has little tolerance for trouble makers.

I live in a nice subdivision, in a 3 bedroom house fronting the Davao Gulf waters. I have all of the amenities of most living in the USA, at a fractional cost. I come and go with our pause. I am typing on my MacBook Pro, and sending out the impulses on a DSL 5.5MBPS line.

Dictatorial is how pResident Obolo is acting there. Here, it is good to know that the leadership cares about the home front!!!

Well, that’s just ignorant. Kaci Hickox says that the science does not support quarantines.

I hope they can run a successful quarantine. I hate to think of Ebola loose in and around Manila.

When Yolanda was big news, everyone saw the satelite radar pics showing a HUGE cloud of storm engulfing the Philippines when in fact, the footprint was only about 5 miles wide.

Noy Noy had IN PLACE, before Yolanda hit, a lot of emergency supplies along the expected route of the typhoon.

We never heard of THAT, all we heard was the devastation of tens of thousands of deaths ... no wait, a hundred thousand deaths ... no ... I mean 30 to 50 thousand deaths ... no .... um .... we'll let you know ...

The point being, Noy Noy Aquino loves his nation, his people and truly serves FOR them

My Mother In Law lives in Bolila, central Mindanao on the east coast and during the time of Yolanda, she said it was a little windy and it sprinkled rain the day of the landfall.

WVKayaker really DOES live in the safest place on the planet

Sheriff Joe arpaio could team up with Mayor Duterte and clean up America in six months.

The Hammer household is available for the housing of six or eight pinays - between the ages of 21 and 25, of course.

You will be well-fed, and will remain in bed - free of charge - for at least the three weeks of the accepted isolation period.

My Filipina wife can't believe I could/would go to WalMart after working .. not really getting dirty and just hopping in the truck and going without first bathing, brushing my teeth, changeing my underwear and putting on something at least clean and hanging in the closet.

Honey ... we only need a couple of qts of oil for the truck ...

Just can't believe we Americans are so dirty.

I understand. Show her some “People of Walmart” pictures and she’ll make you take off your clothes before you come back in the house. LOL

I have lived in Mexico and was in Vietnam and have been to other countries. Personal hygiene is one of my pet peeves.
