Well, I’m not sure it will have camels, goats, crates of chickens etc.

Actually this has been tried in some part of Europe, Germany I believe has several intersections like this, and it works well.

But you’re right, it will depend heavily on the common sense of people using it.

OMG this cracks me up! Anyone who has ever driven, ridden or walked in downtown Chi town knows this is already the norm. No one obeys lights, signs, crosswalks, etc. Good grief. Getting around Chicago is insane! This really doesn’t sound any different, other than perhaps it’s intentional.

Having lived on the North Side several years ago, I would guess that this would make the neighborhood more pedestrian friendly and less car friendly.

Is that the goal?

Those gravel roads aren’t in the middle of a large city, teeming with traffic.

Worse, they’re relying on the humanist worldview of “people are basically good” for this to work out.

“the speed limit will be 15 miles per hour”

So the street is basically closed to cars and motorcycles?
I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hold to 15mph.

Not even bicycles.

there we have it.

People around here drivers...pedestrians..and bikers.have become so overly polite that theyve become...by turns.....overly ..nearly disfunctionally, timid...or angry and wildly reactionary. SO much for human nature.

the youtube videos will be hysterical...

Clearly, anarchists remain among us.

Most likely only those who lived close by. But I think this would probably encourage more foot traffic. In neighborhoods with a lot of residential density and street level stores, this could be a good thing.

Interesting concept— I would like to see it in person.
