Good. Maybe the robots won’t be hiding somewhere when customers need help.
There go those $15/hour jobs, losers.
First the bank tellers, now the hardware store guys.
What will Caliph Baraq do?
I like technology, but I hate the thought of being followed by, or following, a giant advertisement.

Hate to see employees losing their job to a robot but it does open up lots of new areas of job opportunities. Someone is going to have to be able to update and reprogram the robot and someone is going to have to be able to fix them.
Unfortunately, don’t know that our educational system is addressing the impact of these changes or the skills that will be required to meet these new job opportunities in their curriculum.
... This is nothing more than a gimmick ..... It would be much more practical and less expensive to have strategically placed Kiosks instead of customer stalking hazardous bots bumping into and possibly injuring ... at least scaring unsuspecting patrons.
My experiences:
Lowe’s - you can hardly ever FIND an associate or an associate that knows what they are doing.
Home Depot - every damn employee hovers over you like you are a crook or asks if they can help you - every 10 seconds!
True Value - has everything you need, at a price you can’t afford!
If the robot is gay, does Lowe’s provide Same Sex Partner Benefits?
I see an increase in kidnappings.
Alternatively, they could exploit smart phone technology to do the same thing these robots are doing.
On the other hand, maybe robots are thief deterrents.
Are they hackable? A few seconds with a flash thumb drive and they might be chasing customers down the aisle shouting “Kill the human!”
I will have hours of fun ignoring these Lowe Bots. If they chase me down I will shoot to defend myself.
Quick, raise the minimum wage! That’ll put a stop to this worker displacement.
Do the robots speak Spanish too?
I believe so has Winn Dixie. Particularly in the Plant City, Florida store.
While robots can’t replace all workers, some jobs could easily be automated in the face of raising the minimum wage. Consider a fast food restaurant, certainly placing orders and payment could be handled easily by robots and even cooking burgers and fries could be automated. The $15 per hour minimum wage crowd better be careful if they get what they want.
” and show them through the store to the customers’ desired products. “
I went to HD recently and asked two associates to help me locate a 3/8” to 1/2” barbed splice.
No luck.
I went back home and their website said 8 in stock.
I went back the next day and asked an associate for one stating it was on their internet inventory.
He said I must have been looking at another store.
I pulled out my smartphone and looked it up. Eight in stoc k in Aisle 10.
I went over and found them.
I am sure a robot would have located it ....
