How low can we go
In Montgomery County, Maryland, they have a Vietnam Veterans Memorial at a local Gov't building (dis)honoring Americans and Honoring Communist VC. In the photo below, the Vietnam Vet hat is on a shelf with a copy of the "Pentagon Papers".
On the shelf below, is a worn out American flag sitting next to a pair of dirty VC slippers (a sign of disrespect in many cultures) with the inscription, "Vietnam Vet worn 'Ho Chi Minh Sandals," with a short narrative how the Ho Chi Minh trail was used to supply VC.

I don’t understand.
Is this a “memorial”, as in statue, stone, etc outside for everyone to see?
Or a small cabinet display inside a building not directly involving MIL or VN issues?
Does not look so disrespectful to me.
I must laugh, however, at the poor spelling on the display placard - “sandles”. It is “sandals”, morons!

Then-Burlington, VT mayor Bernie Sanders had a Hiroshima and Nagasaki display at city hall.
I believe they neglected to also display Pearl Harbor, Nanking, Manila, etc.

God.....
If my father saw that, he’d probably come back with a brick, some gasoline, and a flare. He’d probably be happy to get arrested for it too!
He was over there fighting those little bastards from 66-68(multiple deployments I think), and STILL harbors bitterness. People I talk to that knew him back then said he was a very nice guy, and when it was over, he came back “different”.

What government building? States like Maryland and a few others I could mention ought to have their status as a member in good standing in the united (small ‘u’) States of America changed to probationary until they either get squared away or leave the union.
As a Vietnam vet, I am appalled and highly offended.

Where's the local VVA? As a 'Nam vet, I'd destroy this entire exhibit even if it meant going to jail.
This is the same BS the pinko-commies tried (1995) with an exhibit of the Enola Gay at the Smithsonian Air & Space museum.
The pooooor Japanese were just victims.

That display seems to me to suggest a ‘moral equivalence’ between the United States military, the NVA/VC, and the marxist anti-war crowd.
I find that repugnant.

It’s a cabinet display as you enter the lobby of the Local Gov’t building

I don’t see how this honors our enemy from the Vietnam war.
Wouldn’t this be along the same lines of having German or Japanese artifacts within a museum dedicated to WWII?
Yes, in some cultures, footwear placed next to a flag or showing the bottoms of shoes is a sign of disrespect. But that is not so in the American culture.
Its an odd display, not really well thought out and could use some filling out for certain. But I do not think it is an intentional act of disrespect.

I think it was done intentional ... the book ‘Pentagon Papers’ is a clue to the meaning of the display ...

Not sure why they would put a N. Vietnam artifact in with the American artifacts. If it were a separate display, I could understand it...but having it mixed with the US gear sure could give mixed signals.
