Strategy is important.

I support privatization of the Detroit water system but have no problem beating up the democrat candidate for senate over the fact that he’s one of those investors. They’re screaming for free water and I’m pointing out that their candidate is making money while their water is being shut off.

Sure its dirty but its also true. Besides that’s the way politics is played.

He also makes money from the oil transport through Detroit by train as he opposes the Keystone and other pipelines.

Total BS.

If they just enforced income standards, SS would be slashed by 25% or more.

I know far too many people on pensions (most of them ‘public’ pensions) that use their SS ‘benefits’ to make their lifestyle ‘more comfortable’: Vacations, boats, nicer house, preserve their savings, etc.

But am I surprised this is coming from the GOP?

Yawn. Same ol’, same ol’...

The only time I see comments about Pubs cutting Social Security is when the Dems run ads on TV.

Here’s a novel idea for the GOP. Just shut down at least 5 unnecessary/rogue agencies and see how much that saves first. Then look to reform SS and Medicare.

Raise your hand if you believe the GOP will cut the size of government at all. Yeh.

This doesn’t bother me much. SS is still the third rail. A lot of seniors don’t like the idea of paying in all their lives, only to have some politician come along and cut it while raising their retirement age to nearly 70, so that some punk 40 year old with a “disability” can sit at home and watch TV all day. Seniors also vote more than any other single demographic. A Republican would have to be a flaming idiot to actually campaign on *cutting* SS (as opposed to “saving” it by moving it towards private investment, etc.)
