the only problem is ... fracking is expensive.. and if the price continues to fall production will stop to drop as wells are taken off line that are no longer profitable to run.

wells are taken off line that are no longer profitable to run. Keep in mind, the majority of the cost is spent putting the well into service. It takes far less to run a well than start a well.
