CO company 'CB Scientific' creates kit to test candy for traces of marijuana, THC

Trick-or-treating. It’s always a little creepy. But now parents have another trick to worry about—candy that’s been infused with marijuana.

Denver police think maybe you should be worried

...

"They infuse it by using viscous hash oil. They spray that onto the candy. And once that candy dries there's no way to tell the difference."

...

"It's a color reaction test and based on the saturation of the color you will know the potency of TCH and CBD in the products. If it turns pink, any shade of pink, there’s THC in the product for sure,"

They’re probably the ones who started the rumor that people were going to be handing out maryjane candy on Halloween.

I doubt that. Any responsible person would be worried about the poisoned candy.

Denver man ate pot candy before killing wife.

Richard Kirk shot his wife in the head about 12 minutes into her call with 911. Police say Kristine told dispatchers her husband was getting a gun from a safe before a gunshot sounded and the line went quiet.

The department is investigating whether police responded quickly enough.

In the call with 911, Kristine Kirk told the operator that her husband had asked her to get the gun and shoot him. She told the operator she was scared of what he might do because her three kids were in the house with her...

On the call, Kristine Kirk is also heard telling the operator to “please hurry” because her husband was scaring the kids and “totally hallucinating,”..

In the background of the call, the warrant alleges, Richard Kirk is heard talking about taking some marijuana “candy.”

save time money and effort by simply throwing away ANYTHING that is not a national brand in an unopened wrapper...

For decades hundreds of hospitals across the country have offered free xrays of Halloween candy for razor blades, needles etc. despite the fact there is not one documented case of such being found.

People could poison anything at anytime.

Plus, maryjane costs money. Dopeheads aren't going to give it away.

her husband had asked her to get the gun and shoot him.

Why the heck did she give him the gun?

I’m sure if anyone was poisoned by dope laced candy, all the law enforcement resources freed-up by the legalization will get to the bottom of it..

The weeded up husband asked her to get the gun, but then he apparently got the gun himself.

She apparently stayed on the phone with the 911 operator the whole 12 minutes waiting for the police to show up.

He was also on a bunch of prescription pain medications and had a previous DUI.

To be intellectually honest, why didn’t you mention those facts?

I don’t drink or do drugs, and find it amazing that people who hate marijuana are somehow okay with other forms of drug abuse.

Yea, if it were true, but it has always been a myth, and it is this time but with someone JUST so happening to be ready to make a buck on it...

Absolutely. We should be consistent, though. If you are against marijuana, be against strong prescription pain relievers and alcohol, too.

I do not do drugs and drink very rarely - almost not at all - a sip of wine at Christmas. I do not finish the glass, as I do not like the way it makes me feel.

I would still prefer that consumption be a choice, not a mandate. If it needs to be a mandate it should be state, not federal.

The government has far too much control as it is, and if they can tell you what to put into your body, there is no end to what they can force on us.

The difference between drugs-are-bad and soda-is-bad, so lets ban them all is a line which has already been crossed. We don’t need more federal control.
