Although the battles for the Philippines will be mostly wrapped up by spring, I think I read somewhere that the last Japanese soldier on the islands didn’t surrender until the mid-1970s.

Kinda like the devil who was defeated by the cross of Christ 2000 years ago but is still fighting. Others who don't realize they've won can become casualties of this defeated enemy.
