In a stunning interview, Senate minority leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)See Full Scorecard68% took the side of Barack Obama over that of most of his caucus on the subject of managing Ebola, ignoring both the administrations ineptitude and basic principles of epidemiology.
Senate Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)thinks the United States should heed expert advice on whether to impose flight restrictions on Ebola-stricken countries in West Africa, contrary to what some lawmakers in his party have been saying for weeks.
I think we ought to listen to what the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] thinks they need either in terms of financing or certainly theyll decide the procedures for travel and all the rest, McConnell told NBC News in an interview. I think we need to follow the advice of the experts who know how to fight scourges like this.
The Obama administration and top health officials charged with responding to the outbreak maintain that a flight ban would impede the work of aid workers who need to be able to travel to and from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea in order to contain the virus at its root.
In this interview, McConnell manages to accurately parrot everyone of the administrations talking points. Even the stupid ones:
The way were going to reduce risk to Americans is to do the steps of protection and stop Ebola at the source in Africa, he said. If we do things that unintentionally make it harder to get that response in, to get supplies in, it will become much harder to stop the outbreak at the source.
I suppose a big-brain guy like McConnell sees stop[ping] Ebola at the source as being compatible with a free-flow of travel from Africa despite the extensive travel bans put in place by other countries.
McConnells call to listen to the CDC on this issue makes no sense when one considers the lack of candor, utter incompetence, and shameless dishonesty the CDC has exhibited so far. In fact, at every step along the way the CDC has failed America. The travel ban, now derided by McConnell, would have prevented Michael Eric Duncan from ever bringing Ebola to the United States.
In the big scheme of things, this statement by McConnell bodes ill if he becomes Senate Majority Leader. If he throws his colleagues under the bus on something this obvious, in what can only be interpreted as a peace offering to Obama, then he will lead the Senate in a way that is indistinguishable from Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV)
I don’t want to sound conspiratorial, but it seems that when any Repub that threatens the Dems, here by possible majority leadership, they are taken to a smokey room with a single bare lightbulb dangling from a wire and shown “their file”. Boehner did the same thing. Talked the talk, then became as supine as a kitten. This is over the top even for McConnell.
The old man will be the new Republican Senate Majority Leader. He will be a fitting successor to Harry Reid. He will cooperate across the aisle and with the President for a new sense of Harmony in Washington and further discord and more gun sales in the rest of the country.
I learned from college microbiology that ebola is a class 4 pathogen and an extremely deadly disease. When the CDC told me otherwise, I figured that Frieden was FOS. Put in mind the microbiology was only general ed, too.
Let me get this right. We are going to stop Ebola in Africa by bringing it here.
We are being ruled by idiots.

When Republicans get a numerical majority they don’t know how to deal with it and act as if they are in the minority still doing everything to appease the Democrats that they consider to be the Natural Rulers.
I truly would not shed a single tear if McCockle had to join Cantor’s law firm.
I hear the bennies are out of this world.
What a choice:
Senate majority leader
A. Reid
B. McConnell
And a whole lot of other things.
Ughhhhhh!
I don’t understand why the leaders of the house or senate HAVE to be these a-holes. Why?
I am hoping that Mitch losses but the Republicans still get a majority in the senate. That would be the best outcome.
Deliver me from RINOs. This guy is nothing more than an Obola fart catcher..
How many billion did that endorsement score ya Mitchwhore!
Will it really matter who wins the senate?
Would it be better if Dems win?
Either way, McConnell winning will be bad
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
That is the only sensible position
It has been obvious for two years since Bo won 2 term
RINOs get worse when they’re in power not suddenly better
