It was very informative. Thank you.

I recently discovered physiology, biochemistry. When I was in high school in the '50s biology was cutting some poor frog apart. I didn't take the course.

Now I'm viewing college lectures on-line and doing Internet research.

I am amazed to see how complex most cells are. It is the cells that are alive and doing the work -- at least most of the tens of trillions of cells are living cells.

Getting that understanding helped me lose 45 pounds, pay more attention to exercising to regain some muscle now that I have an idea of how it really works.

If FReepers are interested Prof. Steven Fink's many lectures are very popular. I had not heard of Prof. Fink but his free youtube lectures are very popular. A basic understanding of chemistry is just about all that is required. Start with cell respiration -- how cells make energy to power themselves and why we breathe and eat. Physiology, biochemistry, and such may help people realize that they do not need most of those drugs being hawked.

In your quest for optimal health and disease prevention, do not underestimate the balancing effects of the B-complex vitamins, magnesium, the sulfur and nitrogen containing amino acids, like those found in whey protein and L-taurine. L-taurine, is arguably more protective to the heart than CoQ10. These mentioned, ironically, are widely deficient in many men and women and are not tested for in a routine blood test. True prevention would include proper testing, not waiting for symptoms to substantiate a need for such a test. Lastly, sulfur is a huge mediator in cell respiration and detoxification, suffice to say, it is practically non existent in the modern diet and our over trucked and stored food supply.
