Both sides depend more heavily on anecdotes than data.

The "war on women" charge depends entirely on anecdotes. So does pretty much every other charge made by Democrats against Republicans.

Since when does the Washington Post have a problem with "anecdotes?"

What was Sandra Fluke all about?

What are the 'anecdotes' they refer to? What? When there is a close election, mysteriously, bundles of uncounted 'votes' are discovered in the dead of night, and even more mysteriously, they are overwhelmingly (if not exclusively) Democrat votes.
Or, what about entire prescints that vote 100% for Democrats?
Or precincts that have more votes counted than there are people registered to vote?
Or Democrat operatives that just happen to have Vote-a-matic machines in their trunk?
Or injunctions that prevent the purging of voter rolls of dead voters?

And those are just for starters. The Compost is saying both sides have an equivalent case - anecdotal. I have yet to hear of one case where a person was denied the franchise to vote. Conservatives have even offered guaranties that would make Voter ID without cost to the voter. It is all a leftist smokescreen, and the Compost knows it.
