That’s a common interpretation, although not the best one.
The interpretation that best fits Scripture (Ezekiel, Daniel, Revelation) as well as the original language of the prophecy is that the multinational force will be Islamic in nature and will originate from Turkey (not Russia, although it may include the Islamic republics to the south of Russia. Joel Richardson and others have done the LORD’s work in researching and teaching this interpretation.
I am willing to consider your views, however my current view aligns with Arnold Fructenbaum, arguably the world’s most respected Eschatology Scholar. :-)
