A doctor who recently returned from West Africa, where he was on an Ebola assignment for Doctors Without Borders, has tested positive for Ebola at Bellevue Hospital Center after reporting a fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, a source familiar with the results tells NBC 4 New York.

I said it when they brought back the first three to be treated here; 1st rule for isolating a highly infectious disease for which there is no cure is to isolate and treat IN PLACE! Do not bring the disease from where it is raging to an area where it does not exist.
Now we have another “courageous” doc who comes back, does not self-isolate, does not check in with anyone and now they’re rushing to isolate him and treat him as well as searching out everyone he came in contact with.
Well, it’s NYC. Their great mayor says there is nothing to worry about; the great NYC is invulnerable.
Seal the perimeter of NYC and napalm anyone trying to escape, screw them all.
If the guy lives, he should be made to pay the full cost to track down all those he put at risk.

“Sparks flying”
That is an excellent analogy. At some point, it becomes a game of statistics. Throw enough sparks, and the odds of a fire approach 1, even though the odds from a single spark are near zero.
Statistics...just what I said a month ago: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3191066/posts?page=2360#2360
Thanks for the info. The L train alone has about 24 stops total in Manhattan and Brooklyn, around 19 stops in Brooklyn.
Precisely. Another case of the "God Complex" amongst the medical profession at work. So sure of himself, no germ would dare threaten his competence.
Yep, so this doctor who was feeling tired, took two trains, went jogging(And in New York City your always bumping into people) ate at some restaurant(Did he go to the bathroom I would like to know) went bowling then took Uber home.. like I said before, somewhere the head ISIS guy is saying “Thanks doc for doing the job for us” what is the difference between doing THAT and someone being infected with Ebola using it as a biological weapon, just go on a Subway and knock yourself out
Thanks for the ping!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Does anybody care that Bellvue houses a sizable population of homeless? IIRC, they have to *out* by 8AM every morning and return to their bunks in the evening. Goody.
“And all those West Africans that are allowed to come into the country will self-isolate and enter a hospital as soon as they feel ebola symptoms coming on.”
Using the honor system to contain a virus with a fatality rate over 50% is a great idea /s

Mybsister changed completely after taking God101 in med school. She became insufferable.
I guess there is some Kardashian connection to this story after all.
Youre Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
Yep. Concur.
