Sudbury, MA Democrat Town Committee Discusses Repeal of Second Amendment
Sudbury Democrat Town Commitee, Clark Moeller ^ | August 12, 2014 | Clark Moeller

Posted on 10/23/2014 2:05:57 PM PDT by Ender Wiggin

In June, SDTC discussed "solving the gun problem" by repealing the Second Amendment. Mr. Moeller had written a paper on the topic. They voted to put it online, linked above. From their online minutes: "Clark Moeller on repeal of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution defining gun ownership: Mr. Moeller submitted a 48 page document he prepared with title, “The Second Amendment Is the Problem”, which defines the problems associated in the U.S. with gun ownership and their history. It develops arguments for repeal of the Second Amendment as the only plausible route out of the dilemma of gun violence. Mr. Moeller asked the Committee to take up this issue and work toward repeal, using his document as a source of information and a basis of discussion and thought about the subject. Mr. Offner moved that we accept the idea of repeal of the Second Amendment, accept Clark’s document as a seminal one, and place it on our website. This was seconded, but before much discussion could occur, Mr. Chauls proposed a friendly amendment asking that discussion of repeal and acceptance of the document be deferred until our next meeting to allow everyone to read its text and become informed on the subject. This amendment was accepted and the amended motion was approved unanimously."

If they are truly liberals they don’t see crime as being the result of individuals making decisions. Crime comes from vast societal forces that can be fixed. Eliminate the societal force that “makes crime” and crime goes away.

By the way, do you have a link to the document referred to in the article?

I’d like to read it just for some laughs.

It develops arguments for repeal of the Second Amendment as the only plausible route out of the dilemma of gun violence.

And where there are no guns criminals will use knives. Ban knives they may use a car. Ban cars they may use a rope. Ban ropes and they may use their bare hands...

The gun grabbers are like most liberals, way off base. The problem is not the weapon, it is the wielder. And the reason so many wielders are so screwed up is the fault of liberals and the inroads they have made in their goal of turning this nation into a secular, self-centered, antidepressant-popping rathole. The problem is not the guns, but liberalism.

The majority of crimes in the US are committed by a subsection of about 3% of the people who have been told from the cradle that they have a grievance with the rest of society. Until that is dealt with, we will continue to have high crime rates especially in the inner city.

Yes, like freeing all the mental patients because we don’t have the right to incarcerate them. now they are on the strees and mainstreamed in schools.

The second amendment does not give us a right, it recognizes our pre-existing right to be armed. Repealing it will not diminish our rights although we may well have to exercise it a bit to make it clear we possess this right. Fine with me.

They should all be stabbed to death.

A solution acceptable to all, as firearms would not be involved. /S

Mr. Moeller's entire thesis errs (and fails pathetically) on the regurgitation of a common fallacy, to wit: re the Bill of Rights, the Founders were but temporary transcriptionists for the Creator.

In other words, statist scum:   Come and Take Them !

Stand on the street holding signs moonbats.

Sudbury had war protesters holding signs in the old town center every weekend when Bush was president.

After Obama took over -- not so much.

"Occupy Sudbury" was also a thing:

Don’t forget rocks, sticks, rope, piano wire, poison, being pushed off a ledge, electricity, gas (natural or propane), cars, trucks, busses, airplanes, SUV’s (they are of course the most lethal), golf balls, sharpened pencils and pens of any sort, and in honor of Riddick even my little tea cup.
