“But, do agree that a 100 yd shot is not a challenging shot for any experienced hunter, especially if equipped with a good quality rifle and scope setup.”
Simo Häyhä, a Finnish sniper during the 1939 Winter War against Stalinist Russia, is credited with more than 600 kills using only iron sights on a MosinNagant. No scope. Häyhä refused to use a scope for fear that a wayward sunlight glint off the glass might give his position away.

Being a sniper doesn’t require the use of a scope. However, all other things being equal a shooter using a scope will beat a shooter not using a scope. Just a side note; I went through boot camp at Fort Polk in 1965 and it still had the old KD ranges for marksmanship training. The farthest distance we shot at was 600 yards with M-14’s. The bull (I think) was one foot in diameter. And, I punched it pretty good, shot sharp shooter, not sniper quality but decent.
