The Obama administration has funded a new study by top consulting firm RAND Health that startlingly finds that if taxpayer subsidies are eliminated, Obamacare exchanges will fall into a death spiral.
The study comes in the wake of a number of lawsuits which are challenging the Obama administrations implementation of Obamacare subsidies. Three lawsuits have made it to U.S. Circuit Courts, just one step from the Supreme Court, arguing that the text of the Affordable Care Act allows premium subsidies for state-run exchanges only.
The report was sponsored by HHSs Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, which, among other duties, compiles the enrollment statistics each month during open enrollment for Obamacare exchanges. Given the ongoing controversy over Obamacare subsidies, HHS sponsoring the study could be a sign that the administration is beginning to worry about its prospects.

Onward to single-payer.
Eggggzactly! Whichever way this goes Obola himself wins. Government mandated and controlled health care equals government control of everything human.
It will also suffer "death spiral" if the subsidies remain in force. It is fatally flawed from the get-go, the only question has been how fast it would fail.

“Let’s see, where did I put those John Roberts pictures?”....the president
Absolutely correct.
IIRC, several Congressmen flat-out stated that. (I seem to remember Nancy Pelosi being one of them.)

Indeed, the first iteration of Obamacare -- the one that passed Nancy Pelosi's House -- was expressly single-payer.
However, this version couldn't pass muster in the Senate -- chiefly because Connnecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman wouldn't go along with a bill that destroyed his home state's insurance industry.
His objections gave rise to the version of Obamacare that we have today.
At which point the ensuing catastrophe will “require” the implementation of single payer.
Rhetorical questions...we all know the answers.
But, haven't we also heard that if Obamacare is continued, most non-governmental insurance plans will fall into a death spiral? I guess the conclusion is more general: Large government-mandated programs kill private enterprise.
So, if I read this right the only thing the Republicans need to do to kill Obamacare is to not fund it according to the law. Only the states are allowed to fund this monstrosity. No back door deals. Ok folks lets keep a close eye on Congress.
