A Norwegian woman who contracted the Ebola virus while working for Doctors Without Borders in Sierra Leone was cured and released from an isolation unit Monday.

"Today I am in good health and am no longer contagious," Silje Lehne Michalsen told reporters just minutes after Oslo University Hospital announced she had recovered.

"I feel very lucky and actually it doesn't feel like I have had Ebola," the 30-year old medical charity worker added with a smile as she hugged one of the medical staff.

She had been kept in an isolation ward since her repatriation from Sierra Leon and given an experimental treatment. The medical team did not disclose details of the treatment.

Michalsen was infected with the deadly virus which has claimed more than 4,500 lives when she was working in Sierra Leone's second city Bo.

No, N - ACETYL CYSTEINE, is a great heavy metal scavanger and helps the body maintain optimal glutathione levels. Nice try, though. By the way, it always amazes me that all the people who put down dietary supplements are so easy to jump on the bandwagon of pharmaceutical drugs. I have had a body of work with dietary supps which speaks for itself. I am 50 years old and have had antibiotics 2 times in my life. Never had the flu vaccine and 95 percent of my clients have improved their health and maintained it for the past 20 years. It strikes me funny that many on a site, such asthis, are so easy to call people like me quacks and alternatives to what government controlled companies produce quackery. That is such a shame.

but Brantly is still weak and recovering slowly?

Brantly gets around. Reportedly, he was driving from Indiana to Texas when he received a call from doctors treating Ashoka Mukpo in Omaha telling him his blood type matched. So, he made a stop in Kansas City to donate blood, which was then flown to Omaha.

Then he lied because he gave a tv interview just 2-3 days ago and specifically addressed his slow recovery.

"A lifetime of lutefisk will kill anything. Like an appetite."

I was in my early twenties, and while at the grocery store, assumed that it was precooked fillet. "Lutefisk." Looked like yet another name for some kind of fish. Apparently, it was already rehydrated and frozen. When it came out of the oven after the usual heating time, it didn't seem cooked enough...too gooey. I cooked it longer and ate it.

;-)

"There are apparently enough doses for the ‘right sort of people’."

A very small group, the 'right sort of people.' It doesn't include me, either, and I'm a white man.

"...contracted the Ebola virus while working for Doctors Without Borders in Sierra Leone..."

And maybe that's the key for some of the first few: risking one's life for the people of another nation.

This is for all whom are interested. The NIH was wrong about vitamin C and it was their studies which led to the defamation of Linus Pauling, conveniently after he died. For a site such as this it is disturbing that so many follow the sheep so easily.

That's some interesting and concerning news. Africa needs more doctors, too.

You're an absolute idiot.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19732754

There are thousands of articles on Pubmed and other sites that prove that NAC is a virus killer, so much so it's damn near impossible to catch the flu while taking it. What a dope, get your facts straight.

Sierra Leone's second city BO.

No doubt, named after the dog-eater in chief.

You should get to know who you are calling an idiot. NAC does all it work through raising glutathione levels, thus reducing inflammatory cytokines. The dame cytokines that are present during the flu. It is a fantastic sulfur containing supplement, which I take daily. It, however would not be used the same as vitamin C in this case. They both work in synergy. I am all for it as an alternative and prevention treatment for many ailments.

In Great Health,

By the way, I believe we are on the same page. Just some mis-communication and my response was meant for someone else.
My bad!

Good luck to you!

I threw away all the NAC I had (prep for H5N1, etc.) because of something I read but can't remember what now. Will try to recollect.

This is from life extension magazine, so you might believe that there is some bias, however this article get to the nuts and bolts as to what NAC is capable of. It is, also very safe.
