MADISON, Wis. Here we go again another roadside sign comparing Republican Gov. Scott Walker to Adolf Hitler.
WALKERS MOTTO DIVIDE & CONQUER SO WAS HITLERS, proclaims the grammatically challenged, hand-written sign pinned to posts just off of Mariner Road near Wisconsin Highway 83 in Hartland.
The sign is across the highway from Westbrook Church, an Evangelical Christian worship center at 1100 Wisconsin 83.
SIGN OF THE TIMES: Another Walker is Hitler sign, this one in Hartland, Wis., amid the states heated campaign for governor. If history is any indicator, expect more of these messages during the last 15 days before the Nov. 4 election.
A church employee confirms seeing the sign posted at the residence. She said the property has long posted one derogatory sign or another about Walker in recent years.
Wisconsins campaign silly season has kicked into hyperdrive, although the Hitler rhetoric is nothing new from the left, which holds a searing hatred for Walker.
In 2011, the governor successfully led a public sector collective bargaining reform bill, known as Act 10, that, according to unions and other critics, deprived Wisconsins government employees of their rights. Supporters, however, see Act 10 as returning rights to taxpayers.
During debate over Act 10, tens of thousands of protesters the brunt of them connected with big labor demonstrated at the state Capitol, while Democrat senators fled the state to stall a vote on the bill.
Hyperbolic signs lined the Capitol Square during those tumultuous times, signs comparing Walker to every despot from Hitler to Osama bin Laden.
The latest signs divide & conquer reference is an old liberal political chestnut, drawn loosely from comments Walker made to a campaign donors during what was believed to be an off-camera conversation. To the left, the governors turn of phrase, use divide and conquer, signaled a concerted campaign to take out organization, not simply fix a $3.6 billion budget shortfall that Walker and Republican lawmakers inherited after sweeping into power in 2010.
I hate pinkos. They actually are no better than Nazis.
Walker is no kind of either.
Rhetoric is heating up; now Walker is compared to “Hitler”. Do you suppose that the sign appearing in Hartland has anythong to do with the fact that Mary Burke grew up in Hartland and still considers it her home town?
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Indeed!
The most disturbing aspect of this sign is the missing punctuation. I thought libs were supposed to be so much smarter than everyone else.
A liberal never misses an opportunity to tell you all about themselves via projection.
Name calling worked so well during the recall.
Feeling better by the day :)
The Dems seem to be running a campaign of looking poor and dumb this year. They have fake “homemade” signs all over the place for Mary Burke (who is running against Walker).
They look homemade until you’ve seen 20 of them, and then you realize they are deliberately childish and all alike.
I think the Wisconsin Progressives are panicking because they are afraid this may be their last chance.
‘Divide and conquer’ was from ancient Greece and later, Roman times..................
if walker is like hitler, whats that make obama? Satan? And Biden?
The Nazis are socialists. DemonRATs are socialists. Ergo, DemonRATs are Nazis. Yes, it’s really that simple. The logic is unassailable.
Seen a couple of them around town...shockingly few signs these days for her. It helps to live in a WOW county though :)
A term that originated on Usenet, Godwin's Law states that as an online argument grows longer and more heated, it becomes increasingly likely that somebody will bring up Adolf Hitler or the Nazis. When such an event occurs, the person guilty of invoking Godwin's Law has effectively lost the argument.
I think she’s spending all of her money on those lying TV ads. Sometimes I wish that Walker weren’t such a gentleman. He really should take her down a peg, or two.
Well that....heaven knows I’m no logician...but I think there is a hole in there somewhere.
Excellent!
I travelled from southern to northern Wisconsin during the recall election. There were many anti-Walker signs such as “Scott Walker, Koch Whore”, but once I was north of Madison, it was all “I stand with Scott Walker”
