I hope he is a defense lawyer. Because she is an idiot and if anyone in Cleveland gets sick, she is going to be the target of a huge group of lawsuits.

“Lawyer may have taken the case pro bono, figuring that it would get a ton of publicity and help make a name.”

Uh, he does not need to ‘make a name’. He is Billy Martin, the famous lawyer.

Ok then, he doesn’t need the name, maybe he just wants the case. I was not aware of who took her case, but it strikes me that as hundreds of people are under quarantine because of her travel to and from Cleveland that she is in far greater need of an attorney to defend her against potential lawsuits than for any hope of a payday from someone else.

Big lawyers and law firms support the Democrat Party and all candidates. Now we see who is behind failure to put in travel bans. They want a boatload of new cases. How selfish.

sounds from the article that they are worried about her potential liability for traveling, rather than the lottery:

In the statement, obtained by CBS affiliate WOIO in Cleveland, the family said they “are troubled by some of the negative public comments and media coverage that mischaracterize Amber and her actions.” “Suggestions that she ignored any of the physician and government-provided protocols recommended to her are patently untrue and hurtful. In the interest of Amber and our family, we have retained esteemed attorney Billy Martin to provide us with legal counsel during this unfortunate and troubling time,” the family said in the statement.

This (fill in the blank) should be booted from the nursing field. Every nurse I know ( and that is more than twenty) have been appalled by this person. Not a one of them thinks she should be a nurse

"I would bet that he was engaged to protect her from potential suits rather than the reverse."

If she felt ill (and there are reports that she did) and still traveled, her liability could be huge. She might try to shift the liability to her employer and to the CDC (the worthless Ebola guidelines). She probably doesn't have a lot of personal assets for the lawyers to go after.

Sue the hospital for not protecting her from ebola. Maybe she will join with Duncan.

She has hit the lottery. You can bet the Hospital and its insurance company will pay out millions. You can also bet the Duncan family will be in line too....

I don't blame her. She followed the protocol she was given. Obviously, the CDC knew she was going to Ohio and let her go. They also let the lab manager go on a cruise, until the CDC got a lot of heat from the media for letting Amber go to Ohio. Then the CDC decided to go after the lady on the cruise, so they look like they were doing something. If the lab worker could get Ebola from a lab slide (unless she didn't use gloves), we are all in trouble.

Have you noticed they don't tell us what the protocols at Emory or the other Ebola hospitals have for lab workers. I bet the same as the Dallas hospital lab used, yet they aren't being monitored. The nurses were using CDC protocols, but the other Ebola hospitals went further and used respirator self contained hazmat outfits for nurses and doctors. What about the lab workers?

The Obama admin is the one to go after and their stupid CDC head.

Martin's past clients have included Michael Vick and disgraced former Idaho Sen. Larry Craig.

It seems to me that Billy Martin seems to specialize in representing losers.

She is going to sue chosen media entities/public persons/ deep pockets that criticized her for getting on plane while sick. You can bet she feels she did no wrong.

The protocols at Emory and other hospitals that contain Bio-Containment facilities is well documented. They follow the same protocols as Bio-Safety Level 4 Laboratories--i.e. use of space suits, negative pressure rooms/labs, sterilizing specimens, use of HEPA filters..

Check out Nebraska Medical Center's bio-containment facility: http://www.nebraskamed.com/biocontainment-unit

I would think the only illegal immigrant who would have standing would be his son, not the alleged brand new nephews and nieces lining up with extended hands. But, how can any damages be given? It isn’t like he was the breadwinner of his newfound family.

And thanks for being grateful, you human trash illegals, possibly destroying a hospital and many other Americans lives and their livelihood.

yeah, I’m sure that the lawyer had nothing to do with crafting that statement, and I’m sure he won’t urge them to file a grand-canyon sized civil suit against everyone imaginable for, say . . . I dunno. . . they will probably start with defamation.

Who loves Ebola? The lawyers and the CDC idiots. The Federale drones at CDC has been salivating to have Ebola victims here in America as human guinea pigs to test, poke and prod.
