Next they'll be warning us that people are passing out tainted $100 bills.

LOL! This "news" is another gross distortion from the Reefer Madness brigade. The shop owner's actual statement is "that companies looking to break into the edibles market often infuse knock-off candy by spraying it with hash oil" - nothing remotely to do with 'tampering.'

Just a bunch of good natured Libertarians having some innocent fun.

I was afraid that all Democrats had left FreeRepublic. Thanks.

Ya know; Republicans want to starve children, conservatives want you to get sick and die quickly, and libertarians want everyone to be high.

Thanks again for your sophisticated and mature analysis. Very impressive.

While you are inspecting the candy for marijuana, you might want to look for needles, razor blades, poisons, & drugs that can actually hurt you. Don’t let a wrapper make you feel safe. Drano or engine coolant can discreetly be injected into the candy & the hole in the wrapper can be hard to spot.

Are you serious?

That's like warning drivers not to pick up hitch hikers by the graveyard. Tampered Halloween candy is urban myth #1! How many kids were denied trick or treating because of dumb nannies who believe these scare stories?

Have there ever actually been ANY cases of sabotaged candy in America?

Yes, but it was dad trying to harm kill his kids for the life insurance money. They guy who did it gave the candy to five other children to cover his crime but only his son ate the candy.

Does this replace the warnings that I grew up with about needles and razor blades? Damn legal inanimate objects! Just like guns - always hurting people by themselves....and stuff.

Yeah, right. So dear little eight-year-old Jilly from next door is standing on my stoop in her Princess costume saying, “Thanks for the blunt, Mr. Drill, but that’s awful ditchweed. You want my brother Bobby and me to hook you up with some serious reefer?” Well, she got that Mercedes from somewhere...

Every years since I was a boy, we had the annual scare stories about tainted Halloween candy. They even had the old "razor blade in apple" meme going on back then - though I think that was something us kids made up so that people would ditch the apples and just give us candy instead.

I grew up in a densely packed neighborhood so I cleaned up pretty good that time of year. My brother and I would collect candy by the pillowcase. If we had time, we'd change up our costumes and make the rounds again. Back then, they'd hand out full-sized candy bars. Not those "minis" that CVS and Wal-Mart sell by the truckload.

But seriously, we should ban everything that can be used to taint candy.
