A Liberian professor in U.S. is telling Liberians that the Defense Department ‘manufactured’ Ebola
washingtonpost ^ | September 26 | By Terrence McCoy

And now, in what may plant further seeds of mistrust and suspicion, a major Liberian newspaper, the Daily Observer, has published an article by a Liberian-born faculty member of a U.S. university implying the epidemic is the result of bioterrorism experiments conducted by the United States Department of Defense, among others.

“They are using” Ebola, wrote one, “for culling the world population mainly Africa for the…purpose of gaining control of the Africans resources criminally.”

The piece purports to describe scientific findings from various “reports,” which are not cited in detail, and even references the bestselling thriller, “The Hot Zone.”

“Reports narrate stories of the US Department of Defense (DoD) funding Ebola trials on humans, trials which started just weeks before the Ebola outbreak in Guinea and Sierra Leone,” wrote Delaware State University associate professor Cyril Broderick.

Under the headline, “Ebola, AIDS Manufactured by Western Pharmaceuticals, US DoD?”, it says: “the U.S., Canada, France, and the U.K. are all implicated in the detestable and devilish deeds that these Ebola tests are. There is a need to pursue criminal and civil redress for damages.”

Worse, in the same breath, the semi-intelligible article suggests groups trying to stop the epidemic — Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization and Doctors Without Borders — are all somehow in on it. The piece puts them on a list of those “implicated in selecting and enticing African countries to participate in the testing events.”

Broderick, who is listed as an associate professor in the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Delaware State University, defended his article in a brief interview with The Washington Post. “There are many references to what was contained in my letter,” he said. “You may read the letter and double-check the sources listed. They are available and legitimate.”

and 3rd worlders will believe this crap

Unfortunately, some do. Not only has this made it harder to fight the disease in Africa, but at least one group of people were beaten and hacked to death because of such beliefs.

I thought spreading lies during time of crisis was a felony.

Considering we have been in a near perpetual state of 'crisis' since WWII, imagine the implications for politicians since.

Perhaps he is confused by claims by the US government that they own the ebola virus.

Please see US Patent # CA 2741523 A1

from the patent on file:

U.S. Government claims exclusive ownership over its “invention” of Ebola
The “SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION” section of the patent document also clearly claims that the U.S. government is claiming “ownership” over all Ebola viruses that share as little as 70% similarity with the Ebola it “invented”:

...invention relates to the isolated EboBun virus that morphologically and phylogenetically relates to known members filoviridae... In another aspect, the invention provides an isolated hEbola EboBun virus comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of: a) a nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1; b) a nucleotide sequence that hybridizes to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1 under stringent conditions; and c) a nucleotide sequence that has at least 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, or 99% identity to the SEQ ID NO

I can see where a 3rd world country with an ebola outbreak would have concerns about the US wanting to “help”.

Maybe he’d be happier teaching at the University of Monrovia or some such place.

I guess, the professor didn’t read the patent application. For instance: [0019] In other aspects, the invention relates to the use of the isolated hEbola virus for diagnostic and therapeutic methods based on EbBun, EboIC, or a combination thereof. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method of detecting in a biological sample an antibody immunospecific for the genus of West Afrin Ebola Species constituting hEbola EbBun and EboIC

He also must of missed the application date in 2008 or final issuing date in 2010. There is money in finding treatments and they are protecting their research.

How does such a primitive ignorant man reach a position of intellectual status in America?

He's a leftist. As long as lefties spew the leftist talking points and continue to further their agenda, they will continue to be put and kept in positions of status in America by other leftists in positions of power. The problem is, after half a century of working their way into every aspect of American life, they are now winning and succeeding re: their agenda.

But he did not miss the part where the patent claims to cover all ebola virus variants with as little as 70% similarity to the virus they patented. (covers all of them)

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

That’s right. He’s a professor plant pathology.
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn he’s a ROPer too.

What is a ROPer?
