Obamacare Customers Afraid to Use Benefits Due to Sky-Sigh Deductibles
Breitbart News ^ | October 18, 2014 | by JOHN HAYWARD

It must have pained the New York Times to publish its article about how many ObamaCare customers fear to make use of their taxpayer-subsidized, hyper-regulated benefits because the deductibles are so high.  It's a devastating indictment of the Affordable Care Act, cutting deep into the very small number of Americans who actually find the ACA somewhat useful.

Not only does ObamaCare have low approval ratings from the American public at large, it doesn't even score well among the group it was nominally intended to benefit most directly, the uninsured.

Patricia Wanderlich got insurance through the Affordable Care Act this year, and with good reason: She suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2011, spending weeks in a hospital intensive care unit, and has a second, smaller aneurysm that needs monitoring.

But her new plan has a $6,000 annual deductible, meaning that Ms. Wanderlich, who works part time at a landscaping company outside Chicago, has to pay for most of her medical services up to that amount. She is skipping this year’s brain scan and hoping for the best.

“To spend thousands of dollars just making sure it hasn’t grown?” said Ms. Wanderlich, 61. “I don’t have that money.”

About 7.3 million Americans are enrolled in private coverage through the Affordable Care Act marketplaces, and more than 80 percent qualified for federal subsidies to help with the cost of their monthly premiums. But many are still on the hook for deductibles that can top $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for families — the trade-off, insurers say, for keeping premiums for the marketplace plans relatively low. The result is that some people — no firm data exists on how many — say they hesitate to use their new insurance because of the high out-of-pocket costs.

Patricia Wanderlich is ungrateful to her master. Doesn't she realize she can get all the birth control pills she wants for no deductible and no copay?

Yeah, I realize that at age 61 she may have zero use for such benefit, but she can pass them on to Sandra Fluke. After all, what's more important?

Subsidizing the promiscuous life style of a young woman like Fluke? Or spending good money on a brain scan for a woman only 14 years away from her expiration date?

It’s a tax, it’s not really insurance.

And so the herd will be culled.

Another "useless eater" gone.

There is an interesting aspect to this story that seems impossible. The cost of the woman’s care.

As an apparently uninsured person she got care for a brain defect. How much did she Pay? Nothing? As an indigent did she not get free treatment.

Then she got insured. She paid premiums and then $6000 she did not have. Was she treated or refused because as being insured she couldn’t get treated till the deductible was used up

I assume that if she had an insurance policy with no deductible she'd have no problem getting other people to pony up the money.

This isn't an ingrown toenail, lady ... it's an 'effing brain tumor you're dealing with.

Anyone who believes that is missing the point. Obamacare was meant to fail. It is merely a stepping stone to single payer.

The LIVs may one day grasp that the thing their messiah gave them was not healthcare (free or otherwise), but compulsory insurance.

Americans can't see their doctors anymore, but at least we're all assured of our place as serfs toiling in the soil on the grounds just outside the insurance industry castles.

I don’t know about this.

While we decry the government involvement in our employee healthcare, we now have 93,000,000 out of work.

93,000,000.

That is a MASSIVE amount of people who now need to find something for themselves.

Sure the government is a pain in the butt for this, but employers have been so busy de-industrializing America they aren’t any better.

Our healthcare system sucks. Period. Obamacare sucks, but so does what we have now.

Just saying. Stop sending American jobs to China, bring them back to America, and you won’t have this problem to begin with.

BRING BACK AMERICAN MANUFACTURING.

Well, you have insurance! now you can’t afford to use it.

That should be the meme of anyone running against a democrat, but it won’t be, because they are too stupid to actually do something about it.

We haven’t even scratched the surface on what a Charlie Foxtrot Obama care is. Just wait until after the elections, Jan 1st, and tax time. Obamacare news will explode and it wont be good for most.

You probably read the same article I did last week, (Newsmax).
30 MILLION Americans will begin losing present health insurance on Jan 1, 2015..(Obvious reason o delayed implementation until after the mid-terms).

Now wait until the engineered plague crisis kicks in. Enterovirus (it’s the new POLIO!), Ebola, chikungunya and even leprosy have been breaking out nation wide. Think that will spur some new enrollments? Think it will help? Think this was not planned?

The media will next explain how single payer will be the solution to the problem backed of course by unbiased polls showing a huge demand for it.Everything happening with Obama care is designed to “nudge” the masses to the desired result of their socialist masters.

A diseased invader alien liar comes to America and gets about $750,000-$1,000,000 in free medical care before he dies. A US Citizen won’t get squat. Just how screwed-up is this country???????

The country is ok it’s the chimps running that are the problem. This election can stop them if people just vote or it gets worse.
