Obamacare Customers Afraid to Use Benefits Due to Sky-Sigh Deductibles
Breitbart News ^ | October 18, 2014 | by JOHN HAYWARD

It must have pained the New York Times to publish its article about how many ObamaCare customers fear to make use of their taxpayer-subsidized, hyper-regulated benefits because the deductibles are so high.  It's a devastating indictment of the Affordable Care Act, cutting deep into the very small number of Americans who actually find the ACA somewhat useful.

Not only does ObamaCare have low approval ratings from the American public at large, it doesn't even score well among the group it was nominally intended to benefit most directly, the uninsured.

Patricia Wanderlich got insurance through the Affordable Care Act this year, and with good reason: She suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2011, spending weeks in a hospital intensive care unit, and has a second, smaller aneurysm that needs monitoring.

But her new plan has a $6,000 annual deductible, meaning that Ms. Wanderlich, who works part time at a landscaping company outside Chicago, has to pay for most of her medical services up to that amount. She is skipping this year’s brain scan and hoping for the best.

“To spend thousands of dollars just making sure it hasn’t grown?” said Ms. Wanderlich, 61. “I don’t have that money.”

About 7.3 million Americans are enrolled in private coverage through the Affordable Care Act marketplaces, and more than 80 percent qualified for federal subsidies to help with the cost of their monthly premiums. But many are still on the hook for deductibles that can top $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for families — the trade-off, insurers say, for keeping premiums for the marketplace plans relatively low. The result is that some people — no firm data exists on how many — say they hesitate to use their new insurance because of the high out-of-pocket costs.

You Obamacare enrollees knew it never was designed to actually provide healthcare benefits right?

Just to steal money from people that are dumb enough to actually use that garbage. So the muslims, and illegal mexicans can get theirs free. But you wouldn’t believe that. But it’s the truth.

Doesn’t this just mean that it is working as planned?

People bought health insurance thinking they were getting health care. Oops!

It was a gross misunderstanding by the DC crowd...thinking on one side that you could price healthcare at an affordable rate for $200 a month, and think that a family making $40,000 a year had $6,000 for the deductible payment. What they had prior to this mess was a marginal 3-star policy, maybe a $1,000 deductible and were paying $400 a month. They all thought they were saving money. They saved nothing. They sit there now, and wonder, what was this whole thing about?

boiled down, Obama care takes money in the form of premiums but doesn’t pay for services most people need.

Obamacare is catastrophic care with a very large premium

We haven’t even scratched the surface on what a Charlie Foxtrot Obama care is. Just wait until after the elections, Jan 1st, and tax time. Obamacare news will explode and it wont be good for most.

People bought health insurance thinking they were getting health care.

Bingo!

They were told by the MSM that it was a "healthcare" plan. "Republicans oppose Healthcare," don'tcha know.

I’m tide of all his hope and ‘real’ change
I’d like some real leadership which has been completely absent the last 6 years.
Somebody said it right “lead or get out of the way”.

Let us vote him out of the business he’s in to ruin this country!

Part of the plan as far as I’m concerned. The same way they cut the HCSA amounts by 50%. Pelosi even said that people go more frequently when they don’t have to pay for it out of pocket...running to the doctor’s office for sniffles... Maybe not her exact quote but she certainly spouted words to that effect.

“Obamacare news will explode and it won’t be good for most.”

...but they’ll still vote Progressive until the end of time.

IMHO

Hey I live in the South and see the Mexican women with three kids in their shopping carts less than 5 years old with a baby bump using their EBT. Sometimes I see some even getting into their husband’s brand new F150!
I know it’s the truth!

This is a good explanation of the difference between two intentionally confused terms:

"healthcare"

"health insurance"

I feel sorry for the decent people who are suffering from Obamacare, but not for liberals. Anyone who voted for Obama or for a democrat in the House or the Senate when that evil law passed or since then deserves all the pain inflicted by the law they forced on productive Americans. If she dies of Obamacare, Darwin would be okay with that. I’m still hoping and praying for such a sweeping republican victory that we can repeal that monstrosity, but I’m not optimistic.

These policies are garbage.

I would rather have a catastrophic policy with a high deductible and do away with the copays.

Hospital is really all I’m worried about. I’ll handle the doctors visits myself.

You mean a free health insurance policy does not mean free healthcare?

People are beginning to wake up now that Obamacare hits their wallets.

I was browsing one of the ins. sites looking for a new part D Medicare policy.( my premium for next year is going to be 100%+ increase)
Happened to look at some Bronze plans, you know the ‘affordable ones’ for low income families.
Deductibles were $6000 single, $11,000 family !! Huh?
