I've used Über several times when traveling on business to large cities in the Northeast. It's always been a much better experience than my typical Yellow Cab ride in similar circumstances. Not always cheaper, but the cars are cleaner, newer, and the drivers very friendly and knowledgeable. And, Über conducts background checks that are at least as thorough as the ones your local taxi commission conducts.
