Salon Readies Polar Vortex Excuse in Case of Unusually Cold Winter
NewsBusters ^ | October 18, 2014 | P.J. Gladnick

Heads we win, tails you lose. That pretty much sums up the attitude of the global warming alarmists.

Case in point is the polar vortex which was used by that crowd to explain away the unusually cold temperatures this past winter. And just in case this coming winter turns out to be very cold again, the same polar vortex excuse is being readied over at Salon. Of course, that excuse will only be used if the temperatures are quite low. However, if it turns out to be a mild temperature that will be cited as a result of...global warming. So let us see Salon give us the polar vortex as a result of global warming excuse again which will be inoperative if the winter weather is mild and also explained away as due to global warming:

No matter what the winter temperatures will be, the excuse will always be the same...global warming.

The first rule in globull warming is that EVERY type of weather is caused by globull warming. Warm, hot, cool, cold, mild, dry, wet, windy, and calm. Globull warming caused it all.

The “global warming causes polar vortexes” is one of the worst pieces of “science” I have ever seen. The authors, Jennifer Francis and some others completely ignored the established “science” from model outputs that conclude that there will be fewer polar vortex events. Instead she picked a model output from an obscure author and used that as the starting point. Regrettably I watched the entire video of her explaining how it worked. After an excruciatingly long harangue about how it all worked, at the very end, her very last word was “maybe”. My first thought was some words from Dan Aykroyd.

I NOTE THAT weather prognosticators and interpreters (the ones not peddling a scam), have resurrected La Nina and El Nino as natural phenomena long known, observed and studied, likely causes of certain recent/current atmospheric temperature trends, while declining referring to greenhouse gases. .

The good news is that due to the small remaining amount of common sense exhibited by even the most uneducated people in America, fewer and fewer people are believing this crap.

Be straight with the terminology.

Global warming is a real nature phenomena. It’s the anthropogenic part that is the fraud. So when you go around saying global warming is fake etc. you’re wrong. It’s just not happening now.

Actually “anthropogenic” is just a word they came up with because nobody was buying the “manmade” part of “Manmade Global Warming”. Most people don’t know what the new word means, it has 150% more syllables, and sounds very scientific, which makes it perfect for baffling the ignorant.

Now, now. You have to use the latest name for this horrific change in the earth’s weather.

The proper word was “global warming” but it changed to “climate change” and now has changed to “climate disturbance.” Hopefully, the next description will be “climate lie!”

Global warming causes global cooling.

I learned this from Hollywood in he “The Day After Tormorrow” — a tragicomedy.

My favorite scene is when Harold Crenshaw gets taken out by a downtown billboard. Too funny!

FWIW
I saw my first wooly bear caterpillar last week. It had a very wide central orange band. Weather folklore says this indicates a mild to normal winter.

Here in SW WI, we have had maybe 4 nights of 32. Nothing below, at least in my location (and I am in a low lying frost pocket). This is actually right in the normal range, although the first frost was actually a couple of weeks later than the *normal* September 21-23. No overnight frost predicted in the next ten days. It hasn’t been worth it to build a fire in the evening, as it is just too warm to get a proper draw. We put the gas furnace on, maybe, for an hour or so to chase the chill 1x-2x on the cloudy or wet days when the daytime high hovers around 50. Ditto the use of our propane space heater in the unheated upstairs in the evening. So far, it has been a comfortable Autumn. Summer was cool. Too cool for much use of the pool w/o expensive heating, but enjoyable for plain old living. Did not have the a/c on in the bedroom even one night all summer. Set it up in a room where we were doing some varnishing and then, never had to use it. Varnish dried just fine. Had to use a/c in the upstairs (converted attic) for a few hours in the late afternoon for maybe a week or so in June and August. Our electric bill was lower than last year. Finally paid off the Polar Vortex bill for propane from last winter and will be able to not have to buy propane for at least another month, since my supplier won’t fill until I am 20%-30% of a tank. We’re grateful.

After two frigid winters, we are due, in my 40 years of experience in this location, for either a *normal* or a *warmer* winter, depending on what is used as a base line.

Of course, this will bring out the AGW activists who are decrying *frack sand mining*, at the moment.

The Earth has been getting warmer or colder for 4,000,000,000 years. The only constant in Earths environment is change. It will continue to change till it’s consumed by the Sun.

Man has been on earth .00075% of Earth’s age or 300,000 years.
Earth will continue to change after man is long gone.

The universe is dynamic. Suns supernova, galaxies collide, planets are formed and lost in black holes daily.

Man is merely a brief observer, not the cause.

I dunno...I’ve been seeing dozens of Wooly Bear Caterpillars this Fall with wide brown bands, meaning a more mild winter. But then, what does a Country Bumpkin like me know? ;)

Do Woolly Bear Caterpillars Forecast Winter Weather?

According to legend, the wider that middle brown section is (i.e., the more brown segments there are), the milder the coming winter will be. Conversely, a narrow brown band is said to predict a harsh winter.
