Americans 'can't give in to hysteria or fear' over Ebola: Obama

(Reuters) - With three cases of Ebola diagnosed in the United States but dozens of people being monitored in case they contract the disease, President Barack Obama urged Americans on Saturday not to give in to "hysteria" about the spread of the virus.

As though to illustrate his point, a Dallas bus and train station was closed on Saturday afternoon over concern about a woman who fell ill. The woman was first reported to be on the checklist for possible Ebola exposure, but then turned out not to be on any such list.

Obama made plain he is not currently planning to give in to demands from some lawmakers for a ban on travelers from the worst-hit countries.

"We can't just cut ourselves off from West Africa," Obama said in his weekly radio address. "Trying to seal off an entire region of the world - if that were even possible - could actually make the situation worse," he said.

Another article detailing Obama's obtuseness about keeping Ebola out of America.

Two new things: The recent Dallas train station scare was by someone who wasn't on the Duncan quarantine list, but said she got sick after breaking her self-quarantine. Maybe there will be more on this. And, Obama doubled down on his stupid "We can't isolate them" position on his Saturday radio address (channeling FDR?).

My sarcastic comment: If we get hysteric over this, how can we stay hysteric over global warming (a Defense Department Priority) or the War On Women, or the $15 Living Wage? The small mind of the typical LIV voter can only handle so much.

Americans 'can't give in to hysteria or fear' over Ebola: Obama

My "hysteria and fear" is over the fact that Obama is making policy regarding Ebola, ISIS, the economy, the environment and every other aspect of our nation's survival.

There is nothing to fear, do not give in to hysterical emotions, we know what we are doing and it's for your own good.

Is anyone else sensing that policies of “redistribution” aren’t just about money anymore? After all, it just isn’t fair that some countries have managed not to have terrible diseases and others haven’t. Some, I hear are figuring the Ebola problem is simply another form of racism. Please God, help us to put people in office who will take responsibility for keeping us safe in all respects.

I don’t see any hysteria. I see people livid over the fact that we have politicians that aren’t fit to pick bird sh*t in a Kmart parking lot let alone be elected to high office.

not to give in to hysteria or fear

We gave in to hysteria and fear of Obama, and rightly so. This president is a virus, not good for anything, destroys the fabric of our nation, and causes our monetary system to vomit.

Ebola is just one item of many that he mishandles. Given his history of messing up other necessities of our nation, of course we are fearful of ebola and how he is mishandling it. Too bad we can't keep Obama out of America.

Given this administration’s history of hiding bad news, I think concern is entirely reasonable.

The democrats have the biggest failure on their hands.
Don’t they hate certain citizens and the traditions that we have here. So many people died before us to preserve our liberties.

Obama even makes Carter seem somewhat brighter.

Complete inept man to put into another czar to begin with and then put someone there who is supposed to calm the fears by sharing factual information who has no medical background. This is like reading a comic book.

It’s hundreds of people who are supposedly being monitored, maybe thousands, not “dozens”. I heard they are trying to contact over 800 Frontier Airlines passengers alone.

Hey Obama. You could say the same thing about the “War on Women” or the “Rise of the Koch Brothers” or “Climate Change” or any of the other things that I receive hysterical fear-filled emails from MoveOn.org and OFA about!

But the difference is that EBOLA is a REAL THREAT. Progressives are not just stupid. They are criminally insane.

“Climate Change”

Great point.

Its easy to see where this a-hole's priorities are. Just watch where he promotes fear & hysteria.

Where Americans ACTUAL safety is concerned, not so much.

I still have trouble deciding if he’s merely ideologically blind and incompetent, or brilliantly malevolent. It’s the Chauncy Gardner versus Lenin/Hitler conundrum.

Is it just that his brand of personal weirdness combined with evolving lefty movements was perfect for splitting our decadent, un-involved society along its fault lines? Or did is he the product of a brilliant conspiracy years in the making, by a number of players from Saudis to Frank Marshall Davis and the Jarrett family?

His political campaigning was brilliant. Until we got sick of seeing his face, he gave great, lying TOTUS interviews. If you’re really paranoid, the turnover at the top of the military has to give you pause. On the other hand, appointing a non-medical political hack like Klain to supervise the blowback from a medical political hack like Frieden seems inane, inept, stupid, and Carteresque.

Sometimes, if the f-up is serious enough, it doesn’t make much difference.

Just have all west African travelers stop by the White House for a personal hug by the Obamas before heading out to do their business. Then I will believe Obola.
