I know what you mean. When I was a firefighter in college, we hated fires where poison oak was prevalent. Our bandannas did a good job in protecting us, but the damn smoke would enter the pants at the bottom, enough to come in contact with the legs.

I suppose they're now issued masks, it was different back then (40+ years ago).

Right. Ebola may not be “airborne”, but it is certainly mist-born. Walk into the mist from a cough or sneeze, take off the protective gear, brush back your hair then rub your eye, and you’ve now carried out a bodily fluid transfer.

Nonetheless, aside from very small numbers of people, the risk from the enterovirus is far, far worse.
