No they wanted it to be a constitutional amendment. In FL you need 60% to pass an amendment. This is thanks to the Pig Amendment 10 years or so ago

Tampa Bay Times is a liberal rag, wondering why they put out this story?

Whether they cared or not, they hoped it would bring every lib and dopertarian out to vote for Crist and the other dems. Colorado’s success made them over confident.

"Some court will step in and legalize it anyway"

Morgan and Morgan, for the people.

Well there is that aspect.
Widely known here in Florida.

The other aspect is we Floridians just got rid of the noxious pill mills, and outlawed “synthetic” marijiuana AKA bath salts, sold at gas stations.

I seriously doubt Morgan and Morgan has enough of a loyal customer following to over-ride the people who actually vote.
No matter how many expensive commercials the pay for.

Floridians do not want to become the Amsterdam of the USA.
Nor do we want Crist in power again.

We will see on Nov 4 if I am correct or not.

I couldn’t agree more. Our Founders did, too. But we’ve lost sight of their vision for our nation.

Colorado’s success is reducing our homeless problem... it’s been almost a year since the homeless burned down any acreage here and they seem to have dispersed from many former haunts. Of course it could be they left because people are too broke these days to give them money at the streetcorners and the churches don’t have as much in their food banks...

Did Florida actually write a pot prohibition into its constitution?

I think it's somewhere in federal law...

Colorado didn't legalize pot through a state constitutional amendment.

Ambulance chaser, John Morgan, and his people, in an attempt to help Charlie Crist get votes (dem GOTV), decided to make this voter referendum a constitutional amendment. In order to become an amendment to the Florida Constitution, the voters need to approve it by at least 60% of the vote.

Do you know whether Florida has the option to pass laws by referendum - or just constitutional amendments?

I am not a Florida legal scholar, I only know that the Florida Constitution specifically allows voter referendum on amendments to the Florida Constitution.

Do you play one on TV? ;-D Sorry, I thought you might know and save me the effort of <groan> doing my own research. According to http://ballotpedia.org/Laws_governing_the_initiative_process_in_Florida, "Florida residents may not directly initiate legislation or repeal legislation via veto referendum."

That light rail tax is going to go down, too. The light rail will create more traffic, because the trains will cross major roads. What stupidity!!

John Morgan constantly on radio and tv have turned people against this particular version of such an amendment. He’s a real bombastic creep and I wasn’t certain of that until he sobbed all over my tv and radio.

Judging by the number of times on different threads that you mention this, if it ever happens, you’ll be able to tell everyone you said this would happen.
