BELTON (October 15, 2014) A North Belton Middle School student and a Sparta Elementary School student were on the same flight Monday as a Dallas nurse who tested positive for Ebola Tuesday night after caring for a man who was the first person diagnosed in the U.S. with the potentially deadly virus, Belton school officials confirmed late Wednesday afternoon.

During a news conference Wednesday evening Belton ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon assured parents that the two students are at low risk to themselves and to others and that it’s safe to send children to class Thursday.

“We anticipate that some parents will choose to keep their children at home,” she said.

No decision has been made on whether the absences of students who are kept home will be counted as excused or unexcused.

Additional information would be sent to parents Wednesday night, Kincannon said...

Well, now that they’ve moved the incubation period out to 42 days things will get interesting.

“We anticipate that some parents will choose to keep their children at home,” she said.

If you like your children, you can keep your children [at home].

If you immobilize everyone who has been in contact in the last 3 days with the 132 people on Frontier 1143, you start to get a non-trivial number of folks...

Poll at bottom of story.

"The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has claimed more than 4,000 lives, but the death of a man who was diagnosed with the virus in Dallas has sparked concerns about the threat the disease could pose here. How worried are you about Ebola?"

Read the story and:

"(NaturalNews) A jaw-dropping report released by the World Health Organization on October 14, 2014 reveals that 1 in 20 Ebola infections has an incubation period longer than the 21 days which has been repeatedly claimed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. This may be the single most important -- and blatantly honest -- research report released by any official body since the beginning of the Ebola outbreak. The WHO's "Ebola situation assessment" report, found here, explains that only 95% of Ebola infections experience incubation within the widely-reported 21-day period. Here's the actual language from the report:

95% of confirmed cases have an incubation period in the range of 1 to 21 days; 98% have an incubation period that falls within the 1 to 42 day interval. [1] "

I'd want to go with the 99.999% period myself.

Don't forget the period the virii are still present in semen after "the cure".

Vinson went to Ohio for a visit and included visiting her fiance. Errrrr isn’t he potentially quite at risk at this time?

I just read that - that WHO is now saying the incubation period could be 42 days.

Maybe he’s okay if you look at the CDC guy’s advise on riding on the bus. You can’t get it riding on the bus. But you can give it if you’re riding the bus. I imagine that rule can be adapted to sex.

IIRC, one of the Nigerian contacts turned positive on day 20 something. More than 21 IIRC, maybe day 24 or 25?

Can’t find that article right now. I remember thinking at the time, ‘hmmmm’.

Probably minimally unless he kissed his fiancé (or otherwise exchanged bodily fluids), touched her or her clothing in any way (risking contact with sweat), touched any door knobs (or suitcase handles, remote controllers, keyboards, water faucet handles, etc., etc.) or anything else she may have touched.

So, if he avoided all of the above and wore a biologic full protective suit, he should be at minimum risk.

“No decision has been made on whether the absences of students who are kept home will be counted as excused or unexcused.”

If I had kids in that school I would keep them home just to keep them from being exposed to the idiocy of Dr. Susan Kincannon.

Perhaps- the powers that be will suspend elections if they can immobilise enough of the population.

Watched the live press conference in Belton @ about 6:30pm CST. County officials had the deer-in-the-headlights look, read off some prepared statements, gave non-specific and rambling answers to questions from the gallery. Bottom line is there's nothing to work with - there is no plan. I am not specifically criticizing them, that's just the way it is anywhere. Pick a county, any county - it's going to be the same story anywhere. If this ebola or anything else like it gets totally on the loose, there won't be any cavalry riding to the rescue.

..... Well lucky for the students the CDC officially cleared the nurse and notified her that she was within their protocol parameters to fly with the students as well as all manner of other people on the plane without fear of infecting them.

.... However .... if there is a resulting infection ..... It should be noted that the nurse was breaking the proper CDC Protocol and should never had gotten on that plane .....
